Amusing hate mail of the month

Editor's note: Right-wing shill, Jonah Goldberg has recently published a book trying to redefine fascism. Basically, his premise is that liberalism and progressivism are actually fascist, even though anyone with a basic understanding of the political spectrum and/or political history will tell you that fascist regimes always marginalize and persecute the liberals, progressives, trade unionists, and socialists as they are the strongest road-block to fascist rule. The victims of Mr. Goldberg's propaganda now feel empowered and are on the attack:

Subject: Fascism?

I think you lack the true concept of fascism. It is my
understanding that fascism is just right of communism,
and left of liberalism. So what kind of scam are you
running here?

The Nazi were socialist, not conservatives. Mussolini
was a socialist, not a conservative.
So that puts liberals closer to fascism than
conservatives. If you want create a movement you must
tell the truth, and not prey on the ignorance of
others.
Try goggling it. I am sure you know how.

You may want to pick up a political science book or even enroll in a course. You're mistaken in pretty much everything you said there.

What makes you think I haven't picked up a book or two
on the subject? If you believe your own lies that's
OK.
I am just going with what H.G. Wells, Stalin, and
Hitler said about what fascism meant to them.
Maybe if you cracked open a book once and a while, you
might know what you are talking about.
Wells a famed socialist himself, called himself a
"liberal fascist". So you might want to get all of
your cohorts on the same page.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's a shame you can't carry on a civil conversation. I'd have been happy to help you understand the dynamics of the political spectrum. For future reference: When you contact someone via email it's good practice reference what it is that you are commenting in regards to. That way you won't seem like a knee-jerk foaming-at-the-mouth person who just needs a friend.

I just want you to admit that the Nazi were socialist.
I mean they were called the "National Socialist Party"

If you had some political history education you would know that the National Socialist Party was socialist in the way that the neoconservatives are conservative. Furthermore, you'd know that the National Socialist party used socialist economic policies to pull Germany out of a depression and then used that support gained through socialism to enact policies and transform into something that was altogether much different than socialism. Something called Nazism. The Nazi party platform spells it out pretty clearly. Additionally, the Nazis rounded up the labor organizers, communists, actual socialists, academic socialists and the liberals (yes, they actually referred to them by name liberals) well before they went after the gays, Jews, and Gypsies.Why did the Nazis round up liberals, trade unionists and socialists before they went full-throttle into the extreme right-wing totalitarian nightmare of Nazism? Because those are the groups that serve as the most powerful line of defense against fascism.

  Now since I have no idea what you are basing these assumptions regarding our stance toward fascism is based upon, here's a few links that will hopefully help you understand what you are talking about and possibly make you appear less foolish when you try to pass yourself of as a political scholar.

that I never took a political science class.

It's site, not "sight". And the sources given to you were backed up by credible resources. Just because a fact makes you uncomfortable does not make it biased or lacking in credibility. Whether or not you took a political science class is inconsequential as you have already displayed an incredible lack of understanding even the basics of political theory.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you mentioned that book. To answer your question: Because it is written by Jonah Goldberg who has a history of misleading his readers, is a known right-wing hack, and the misleading and false information in the book has already been well-publicized. Example: In the book Mr. Goldberg claims that Mussolini was actually a socialist. However, anyone with a basic understanding of modern fascism knows that Mussolini started the Fascist party specifically to combat the (already established) socialists and communists.

I think this is probably where your biggest problem lies. You are reading books by people like Jonah Goldberg when you should be reading actual textbooks. A good place for you to start would be William Ebenstein and Alan Ebenstein's Great Political Thinkers: chapter 31: Fascism.

I think your second biggest problem is that you have no idea what you are talking about yet are completely confident in contacting experts on the subject to display your complete lack of understanding on the subject.
