| Letter to the Freedom Fighters of
Fallujah, and the People of Iraq |
|
| My dear brothers and sisters, |
|
I apologize to you for the slaughter, the genocide,
the endless tortures
meted out to you by George Bush – when your only 'crime' was to be
born in a
land full of oil. History will record Bush as guilty of crimes
against
humanity and as the most evil president in US history. |
I apologize to you that George Bush robbed,
ransacked and pillaged your
museums – removing priceless artifacts that reflected the great
beginnings
of your noble civilization. Then he destroyed your
universities, trying to
obliterate your indigenous, ancient culture and the great intellect
of your
people. |
I apologize to you for George Bush's complete
disdain for the Geneva
conventions, in his rape, torture and murder of innocent men, women
and
children inside the walls of Abu Ghraeb prison. May God
protect the newly
captured freedom-fighters of Fallujah! Let them not also be
stripped, raped,
tortured and murdered by their captors inside the walls of another
Abu
Ghraeb! |
I apologize to you that George Bush blocked the Red
Crescent and other aid
agencies from entering Fallujah yesterday and today to bring food,
water and
medicines to the handful of survivors. |
I apologize to you that in the destruction of
Fallujah, it was not enough
for George Bush to drop 500-ton bombs on your people from 30,000
feet above.
No, he had to also use napalm (again breaking Geneva conventions) on
your
soft flesh to make your sufferings unbearable! He is worse than
Saddam.
Bush made some of us ashamed to say we are American! |
I apologize to you for the American soldiers who
came to Iraq. Some came to
defend America. Others came because they could not find work here at
home,
so they joined the US army to survive. To get a salary and
feed their
families, they kill the innocent people of Iraq, who only want to be
free of
foreign invaders! Other soldiers came to Iraq to defend
America. But they
never once stopped to think, to question, whether they had a moral
right to
torture, maim and murder the warm, hospitable people of Iraq! |
I apologize to you for the unspeakable, unpardonable
crime of George Bush
that the air, soil and water of your country is now contaminated
with
depleted uranium dust from American bombs, that this dust will
poison your
country for centuries to come, and will cause many of your babies to
be born
as mutations – with two heads or missing arms. Witness
Afghanistan! |
I apologize to you for the cold, cruel, callous
nature of Mr. Bush. He
flouts international law and rendered the United Nations impotent.
He is
incapable of caring for even a single suffering civilian in your
country.
Again and again he refers to Iraqis as 'the killers.' But he is the
killer
of 100,000 Iraqis! He gave the orders! |
I apologize to you that this war is conducted only
to make George Bush and
his cohorts richer. Their greed is insatiable, their pursuit of
wealth
endless and relentless. Witness Halliburton, Bechtel, Chase Morgan,
Citibank, Carlyle and Monsanto. We applaud your noble
resistance to US
corporate Empire! |
I apologize to you that George Bush passed an
evil law in your country
banning your farmers from using their indigenous seeds, which were
cultivated by your people for thousands of years – and forcing you by
law to
now buy GM seeds annually from US corporations. Bush also
flattened your
date palm orchards and destroyed centuries of Iraqi agriculture. |
I apologize to you that Mr. Bush installed a
CIA-prime minister in your
country, who matches Mr. Bush in coldness and cruelty. All these
crimes
against your country, all these sufferings of your people, have
happened
under the watch of Mr. Bush. He is directly responsible for
your
sufferings! |
I apologize to you that George Bush will torture you
for four more years. He
and his cohorts rigged the electronic voting machines on November
2nd, 2004.
For the second time, he became president through fraud. (See
www.blackboxvoting.org.)
When there is election fraud here in America, how
can the US stage elections in Iraq? Those elections will also be
based on
fraud and corruption! Witness Afghanistan! |
I apologize to you that I have no power to change my
government. What power
does one woman have? What can I do but tell you that my heart
bleeds for
you – for the freedom fighters of Fallujah who give their lives in
the noble
fight to drive out the imperialist American invaders plundering Iraq
and
helping themselves to the oil! What can I do but weep in pain
at the
sorrows and sufferings of your people. You are not terrorists. You
are
fighting for dignity, justice and freedom in the only way left -
through
violent resistance against your oppressors. |
These days will come to an end. Clouds cannot
overcast the sun forever. The
creatures of darkness will one day be vanquished, and your people
will once
again be free. Your land is sacred. Your land is your mother.
You are
enduring countless pains, agonies, and humiliations. But one day you
will be
free, and your land will once again be yours. |
I want to tell you, please have hope. Please
know that God is great! Please
know that there are people in every country of the world who love
you, who
long for you to be free, who long to see you once more smiling and
laughing.
Human beings were not born for weeping. They were born for rhythm
and song,
to take joy in the blue sky, the gentle breeze, the sweet song of
birds and
smiling flowers. Please know that one day we will together become
one world,
one humanity, and one family. We will join hands together and
be free! Let
the moralists of the world unite and work together to bring that day
near!
