Statement of Priciples
Our Perspective
- United We Stand, Divided We Fall
Political discourse in this country has become so polarized that we
no longer work together to analyze and solve our problems but rather
blame our fellow Americans for troubles that affect every
industrialized nation. Ideas are liberal or conservative, not
people. While "conservatives" blame "liberals" and "liberals" blame
"conservatives", those who have no interest in the public welfare
are laughing all the way to the offshore bank acount.
- The News Has Been Cancelled
The mainstream media operates under a for-profit corporate bias. The
desire for higher ratings has trumped any sense of public service
and utilizes rhetorical fallacies such as appeals to emotion and
reinforcing personal bias to create and pander to a select
demographic.
- "Liberal" And "Progressive" Are Not
Dirty Words
The definitions of these words have been altered to describe
anything at odds with the latest right-wing punditry. Few people
identifying themselves as "conservatives" would oppose
liberal/progressive ideas such as child labor laws, the abolition of
slavery, and the Clean Air and Water act, yet mainstream concepts
such as affordable healthcare and environmental protection are
regarded as "liberal" and even "socialist".
- A Government Of The People For The
People
The very entities that a representative republic is designed to
regulate have assumed many of the leadership positions in our
government. The lax regulation of campaign financing and corporate
lobbyist influence has created an environment where elected
officials are representatives of corporate profits above the public
interest. Through their media outlets, these entities have created a
movement in the general public of distrust of the very apparatus in
which the public have control over their country. Support for
deregulation of industry and an undermining of efforts to make
government work for the people have taken our country down
a dangerous path to corporate rule.
