Proof We Were Lied into War.

Bush Must Be Impeached!!

By Lonna Gooden VanHorn

May 5, 2005

I hope many of you will opt to send, fax or e-mail a version of this letter to your newspapers and your congress people.

While the American public was immersed in the hysterical media coverage of the “Runaway Bride” last weekend, an article came out in the “London Sunday Times” that was almost totally ignored by the American media.

A patriotic whistle blower in England provided the Times with the official minutes of a July 23, 2002, briefing by Richard Dearlove, head of Britian’s CIA equivalent, MI-6, to Tony Blair and top national security agents which proves that President Bush lied us into a war from which, unconscionably, we know his family and Cheney’s Halliburton are profiting financially.

The war was to be “justified by the conjunction of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction,”  Dearlove said.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw noted that justification would be a challenge because the “case was thin.”  Dearlove then said, “The intelligence and facts are being fixed around the policy.”

Former CIA case officer Lindsay Moran said that former CIA director George Tenet’s managers told their people

“Let’s face it.  The president wants us to go to war, and our job is to give him a reason to do it.”

We also have the e-mail from the senior CIA official on Feb. 4, 2003,

"This war's going to happen regardless of what Curve Ball said or didn't say…the Powers That Be probably aren't terribly interested in whether Curve Ball knows what he's talking about."

Honest intelligence professionals are outraged.

Bush and his entire administration must be removed from office.  Clinton, under whom the country was in relatively good shape, was impeached for private sins that did not cost one life.  Bush has destroyed our international reputation, our economy, the military, and is working on destroying our children’s environment to benefit his corporate campaign contributors.

More than that, no other president can ever be held accountable for anything if a president and an administration that needlessly took our children’s lives and the lives and livelihoods of countless thousands of Iraqis by lying us into war against a country the administration knew was little danger to us or its neighbors and had nothing to do with 9/11, is not removed from office.

To distract from this story, which one can hope will get out in spite of the media, now would be a good time for Bin Laden to be miraculously captured.  Even though, as some Iraq veterans, including Nicholas Przybyla attest, we already had him, but let him go.  http://www.bringthemhomenow .org/what/latest.html#fayettevi lle050327   and  http://www.militaryproject.org/

The families of the dead and wounded soldiers should be screaming “IMPEACH,” and moral Republicans, like Ron Paul who do not want their party destroyed by association with the constant deceit and dishonesty of this administration in every area, including the war, tax cuts and Social Security, should be leading that fight!  If they fail to do so, it is up to we the people to take our country back.  As Michael Parenti said, "When the people lead, the leaders will follow."

I wish I could include my own Republican congress people among that number, and I am saddened that I can no longer include Iowa’s Republican Senator Charles Grassley, a man I admired for years, among that number.  But, I forget.  Only Democrats are required to be honest and moral, and only Democrats need be held accountable when they are not.

But then, it is probably not your child who died for Bush’s lies.  Yet.  However, for the third month in a row, in spite of dishonest recruting methods, the army has failed to meet its recruiting goal.  This time by 42%.  As Col. Hackworth said "Count on it, Uncle Sam will soon want your kids."

As the Baghdad Girl Blogger wrote in dismay after Bush’s  “re-election:”

"Well, what is there to say? Disappointment doesn't even begin to describe it...

To the red states (and those who voted for Bush): You deserve no better- I couldn't wish worse on you if I tried. He represents you perfectly... and red really is your color. It's the color of the blood of thousands of Iraqis and by the time this four-year catastrophe in the White House is over, tousands of Americans, likely.

To the blue states (and those who were thinking when they voted): Condolences. Good luck- you'll need it.

I'm thinking of offering up the idea of "Election Condolences" to Hallmark or Yahoo Greetings. The cards can have those silly little poems inside of them, like:

Condolences and heartfelt tears-

You get Bush for four more years!

or

Sympathies in advance

For when they reinstate the draft!
We hope (insert_name_here) stays as safe as he/she can
And writes frequently while in Iran!

or

Bush and Cheney- what a pair!

Who said life isn't fair?
While Iraq gets tanks and occupation-
You have idiots to run your nation!

or

Cheer up...

Your son was too young for Afghanistan.
And it's still a bit early for Iran-
But there's plenty of time for Syria...
And he'll definitely serve in North Korea!

I guess justice was too much to ask for.”
