We went to the doctor today to make 100% that Julie is pregnant. She is!

Here's the ultrasound:

The black circle is the "gestational sack" and the white speck in the black circle is the fetus.

Cool stuff.

It's going to be a commie. If you squint, he's wearing a T-Shirt with Lenin on the front.

She's gonna grow up to be the leader of a lady motorcycle surfer gang that digs Sandra Dee movies and dances to rockabilly music.

The other posts lately haven't really grabbed me. I'm tending my "Marxist Study Group" but the lack of discussion of issues that matter to me here has made me post less here.

I don't really care too much about voting issues in the US, because it's something that I don't know a lot about, and will never effect me in any way, really. I hope that things work out well, but there isn't much for me to add into that.

I like this thread, it's something I know a lot about smile.gif.

Congrats again, Scorp!

I had to let this sift through my brain for a few days to realize the amazing thing here. They did an ultrasound this early ?!? Just to confirm pregnancy ?!? I'm gobsmacked. A side effect of living in a society where babies are all too rare? Wow.

With my first pregnancy, they did an ultrasound at about 5 months. Then another on delivery day. The cord was around his neck, a fact they did not share with me, so as not to worry me. But thanks to the ultrasound they knew.

With my second pregnancy they also did ultrasounds at those intervals.

Both of my guys arrived via scheduled C-section. The first was breech, the second was 2 weeks late.

I've just never heard of an ultrasound so early. Is that common in Japan?

I don't know if it's common, but I told the Dr. we wanted to confirm if she was pregnant, so he fired up the old ultrasound and took some pictures.

Congrats scorp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter bore all three of her children after the age of 33--at 33, 35, and 39, and she had extensive ultrasound studies to be sure there was no evidence of Down Syndrome or other fetal abnormalities that become more common as mothers give birth later in life. Come to think of it, my daughter-in-law was 33 and 36 when her children were born, and she too insisted on many ultrasounds. And my cousin became pregnant at 40 after adopting two kids--and she, a devout catholic, also had ultradounds. Her daughter, now in her late twenties, is a star skater for the Rat City Roller Girls of Seattle biggrin.gif . I guess the jury is still out on HER normalcy!
