...that the Dow has lost 1000 points since mid-May.

Don't wait for anyone in the media to point that out.

Thank you.

Hey ping, explain what that means to me. You know as hard as I really do try, anything beyond balancing my check book economics confuses the shit out of me.
Thank you oh dear smart one!

It means Uncle Sam is not worth as much as he used to be. In mid-May he was worth 11,700 florins. Now he's worth 10,720 florins.

That's about what it comes down to. smile.gif

It also means consumer confidence is lacking.
These consumers buy stocks as inverstments. When they feel in trouble, they're more likely to sell stock than to buy stock.

Crude oil closed at $78.71.

Lefty, that means you'll be paying more for gas. You might like to go fill up. Now. smile.gif

Luckily, since my move to working at home, I only use a gallon or 2 in a week, sometimes less. But, quite luckily, my electric bill in climbing into the insane category, to make up for the money I'm not spending at the pump.

The price of electricity is also dependant oil proces because much of it is generated with fossil fuel burning power plants.

Sure wish they made solar panels that were cheap to buy and easy to use.

Ya, I know, I was being ironic! tongue.gif
Gadzooks!
Solar panels are easy to use and getting cheaper to buy daily.

Hubby bought a magazine the other day that's all about getting your house 'off the grid'. There was a thing in there about solar shingles! unsure.gif
sky of mind
I realize the solar technology is there, but until industry and the buying public get behind it,
the cost won't ever really come down enough.

Just imagine what COULD be done, if our Government made it a priority!

Yes, it is totally possible to get off the grid. Especially if you live in a moderate climate.
I was reading this stuff in Mother Earth News decades back.
Now, it's extremely doable. First thing ya can do that's very easy, is buy Compact Florescents and then paint all yer old regular incondescent bulbs and make them into x-mas orniments.

In Japan most of the houses have solar panels, and nearly all of the new houses are built with 100% solar shingles on the roof.

Does it affect bill ? Is there a notable savings on electric bill?
