In my post the other day in Arts and Culture about the PBS documentary of Woody Guthrie I alluded to the paradox of his song "This Land is Your Land" being known as a patriotic anthem altho Woody was in fact a Marxist. While listening to Springer on Air America Radio just now he made the same point and did a small monologue around the subject. This seems pretty coincidental since the subject is a pretty obscure bit of minutia and not exactly current news. I noticed something like this once before on Randi Rhodes altho I don't recall the subject. Anybody else had an experience like this? Do you think they might actually read us?

Hey, SOoner, I do think they visit us. There have been many times that I have listened and all of the sudden they talk about a topic that hasn't been in the news, but that we have been actively debating. I take it as a compliment...now if we could only get them to say where they got it from, we'd be doing great!!!!!!!!

The other night I heard Mike Malloy tell a caller he could get the audio of an old episode from www.whiterosesociety.org . Since I had noticed that this is the POAC/White Rose message boards I checked out the site he mentioned. Sure enough there is a link back here at the bottom of that page.

I don't know all the details of the White Rose connection, but it certainly seems possible... :shrug:

Back in the early days of AAR the POAC used to update every night at midnight. (I'm trying to get back on that schedule) In those days, our top 10 headlines were pretty much were the bread and butter of the morning shows. Including the extra info that would come from research I did on my own to compliment the news stories. It was incredibly obvious.

I know they know about us for two reasons:

1) Every few months I have some extra shirts that were made on accident (wrong size, image, color) and I'd randomly ship a big box of them to specific show hosts. I figured if they didn't fit them, they could share them with their staff. I even sent a bunch to Mike Malloy's personal PO box. Mike's given us some really nice plugs in the past.

2) Once, I called in to a show and told the call screener that I was the guy who runs the POAC. She new about us and said that she loved the site and bumped me up forward in line. i still never got on, i was tired of waiting.


So yes, they do know about us. But I'm not on top of the headlines as they break as much as I once was, so I don't know how much they really pull from us anymore.

I consider this most indication of the possible posative effect that the POAC and the WRS have on the general public.
I would expect most interest is on the front page, but I'm also certain many look for information, as well as opinion here on the forum! I think this indicates the importance of maintaining the higher level of awareness and anger.

Our chatter is a big part of the national discussion!
