LOL

That a Congressman would entertain the thought that we ARE in a Fascist Government?

Gadzooks!
And that he would repeat what has been the street buzz for over five years. This is what the American people (we) have been saying for some time. Is he gonna be in trouble for actually (at least verbally) expressing the will of the people? I'd be happy if John took credit for the observation if he were to do something about it.

Well seeing that H.RES 635 IS his resolution to investigate the President's behavior over the War in Iraq and spying, I'd say that he is ready to charge. His one problem, few Congressmen have the balls to join him. WHY??? For fear of reprisals? Allegiance to the President? He's scratching his head too. This is why it is important for the grass roots, the people, to make their stand and DEMAND their Representatives to act accordingly to their Oath of Office. DEMAND and hold them in contempt until they honor their Oath of Office. IT IS the only and fearfully last saving grace to this Nation that they do so. With out the move of Congress to act accordingly, America IS lost to a system that no longer resembles a Democratic Republic.
sky of mind
The Netroots that some of them supposedly fear, is the only possible way to beat the fascist system.

The first time I "met" Congressman Conyers in the blogosphere was right after the Downing Street Memos came out in May 2005. He led the way on revealling the DSM to the American bloggers through various sites : Velvet Revolution US, Afterdowningstreet.org, Bradblog, etc. It seems me and hundreds , maybe thousands, of Americans were all over at Conyers Blog in the months following DSM's publication in the London Times of May 1, 2005. Those were heady times for bloggers and posters!

He led the way to trying to open an investigation last year based on the DSM. His office issued the following publication. "The Constitution in Crisis" :

If the Democrats win in 2006 , John Conyers will have more authority for subpoena powers, right? Can someone explain why he does not have this authority now.

Max, can you post the link from Conyers Blog that the "fascist discussion" is taking place? We'd like to read it (or join in!) I found you discussing and linking folks up to POWER OF NIGHTMARES. Good Job clap.gif Is this the thread you are talking about? :

The mention of Fascism shows up in almost every discussion. But someone actually wants a count of the participants as to what degree each of us feel it is or is not.

It's my understanding that only the majority party in Congress has subpeona powers. That's why we saw the incredible run of witch-hunts under Clinton. Republicans had the house. Travel-gate, whitewater, file gate... they just kept launching investigations until they found something that would stick. In that case, it stuck to a blue dress.

Seems to me to be a pretty bad set-up, disallowing a preventative measure for a one party dictatorship.

I already told Con. Conyers and my own Congressman, McDermott, that never again should it be let to happen that one party controls both halves of Congress and the Presidency. That someone needs to reevaluate that aspect of Governance.

Exactly! The majority during Clinton made much about THE SPOT. One little dang spot!

And the minority during Bush can do NOTHING about tens of thousands that have spilled their blood!

Something is very wrong with this formula that allows so much waste of time on irrelevant matters, and not enough proper attention to the vitally important ones.

The criteria for balance-of-power needs to be addressed and reformed!

(Everyone can chime in at once now> "NO DUH SHERLOCK" wink.gif )
