This is not about anything in particular, just the thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head. I can not stand people who try to justify that worst things possible. These Bush supports, these fucking Neo-Cons. Their ideas are pitiful and enraging. The leaders of the republican party with their constant corruption, their lies, their terrorism, their wars, their greed and the followers who would gladly sell out their morals and convictions to defend these thieves. These people who use the bible as a weapon and tell us who Jesus hates. How many times have all of you been called unamerican, terrorist, ungodly, had your life threatened by these fucking wack jobs? What is wrong with these fucking people? Why is our country being run by uneducated, hate filled, inbred rednecks? Since when do these people deserve to say anything or represent me and my country? The things they say and actually believe is so illogical and simpleminded, it makes me want to go on a rampage. How come we can not escape these people? Why are they the first ones that everyone goes to with questions? Anyone who believes anything that these people say should be locked up. I swear, i am never going to talk to these people again.

Honestly, I think this is the kind of sentiment that hurts the progressive left. The administration sucks and everyone knows we think it sucks, but when we move into using terms like "uneducated" and "ignorant" John Q. Public feels like the far left is nothing but a bunch snobs who are completely detached from the concerns of the average person. If the administration is a bunch of inbred rednecks, what must we think of those who voted for those rednecks? Not all of them are hopelessly homophobic dominionists or millionaires angling for more "tax relief." There are plenty of people who have just been manipulated into believing alot of the Rovian hogwash and though it is unlikely they will ever become Dennis Kucinich, they might be swayed to moderate their positions on some things if they left approached them differently. The
we're smarter and know what's best routine makes us look like elitists.
I can understand the frustration. I live in a rural area of a red state and am up to my eyeballs in it. But no one likes to be made to feel stupid. They will overlook the economic elitism of Bush Republicans because they believe in the pipe dream that one day their kids or their grandkids might one day be rich. They won't overlook intellectual snobbery, because there is no flashy car or luxury home to distract their attention from the fact that they are being sneered at.
I'm not saying we have to abandon a full programme of social justice to appeal to the masses, but I do think we need to put on a more welcoming face.
Just my two cents.

Jack,
The issue I have with "you people" is you don't seem to be able to put your thoughts in writing without using the "F" word. Such words are offensive and demonstrate your lack of English language skills. You see, people with a decent grasp of the English language are able to express themselves without resorting to the unnecessary use of offensive words.

Though it might well be true that people are so shallow as to hear the words, and not notice what they are saying.
I personally don't have any issue with swearing. A cuss word ONLY has power when we assign it power.
I can be exceptionally rude and offensive without using a single swear word, would this be OK?
I can be completely unoffensive, and swear like a sailor, and yet this is not OK?
So scolding someone for the superficial aspect of the wordage chosen, and not paying attention to the contents, is IMO, a big mistake.
By the way. When I get emotional, I swear a lot. Society gives these words power, and when I'm emotional I deliberately tap that power. So, if Blue Language sets you off into a tissy, I suggest you avoid me and politics.

I have to disagree also. I agree that "fuck" can be and often is overused. But there are times and places when it is both called for and appropriate. My memory on this may be a little rusty, but I think Scotty Reston wrote an introduction to a book of Bill Mauldin cartoons, wherein he spoke of the flexibility of the word "fuck" in describing some situations. He reported the story of a WW2 soldier whose jeep rolled over. He said "the fucking fucker's fucked," thus demonstrating the word's utility as an adjective, noun and verb.
I've experienced Jack's frustration with the right wing, and sometimes the only accurate way to describe them is as fuckers. I don't think it has to do with a limited vocabulary at all, but with the
freight that word carries. There's a time when nothing else will do. Yes, one can be more colorful and inventive, but no other word carries anywhere near the impact that "fuck" does.

The reality is that what most people call cuss words or profane words are legitimate words that were in common use at one time. This was very common after wars with people of another language. The loosers words are considered profane. That is why swine is considered a barnyard or derogatory word, and pork is more acceptable. What makes a word profane is in the minde of the person who considers it profane. In case anyone gives a fuck.

Was it Kerry's cowardice, his deserting his command in Vietnam and running from the country which you identify with? Three trumped up band-aid "Purple Hearts" that Marines like myself would have been gigged for gold bricking had we attempted the ploy...
His self admitted acts of War Crimes, the abandonment of his command, the summary execution of a wounded prisoner of war...
His labeling of a generation of Soldiers and Marines as nothing more than drunken, drugged up, raping, baby murdering savages with his fictitious "VVAW" frauds who
never served InCountry", or never served AT ALL?
Or was it Kerry's treason, his conspiring with Mdm Binh of the Viet Cong in Paris, while still an officer in the United States Navy that appeals to you?
Was it his working as an agent for the enemy of this nation? His working to support Vietnam for all these years, his continued denial that any MIA/KIA remain are still left in Vietnam, so that Kerry might personally gain from employment while opening the door for economic and political advancement of the enemy... those same "non-existent" MIA/KIA remains that Vietnam just recently agreed to return to the US for proper burial...

Thanatos, in Greek mythology, the personification of Death, the son of Night, and twin brother of Sleep. Thanatos is frequently represented as a winged spirit.
