QUOTE

I realize you do not want to be political Xxxxxx, but I have talked with you a lot over the past decade, and I have listened a lot. Meaning two things. One, you owe it to me to listen, just as I would and have listened to you. But more than this fact, is the fact that all to often you DO want to talk about it. I understand this. What is happening today is over whelming and touches almost every aspect of our lives and every corner of the planet! You have things you want to accomplish, and so do I, but under all that I think you understand how these events could and can effect your personal plans. That no matter how much you want to focus on the self, the world keeps intruding it's realities.

You must also understand that this is not just a hobby to me. This isn't something I do just to kill time. My involvement is a direct reaction to my becoming informed. It is the natural expression of my rage that comes from being informed. It has become bad enough that felt I had no other choice. It got bad enough that I wanted to know why, and who was responsible.

Anyway, I sent you this link because I have always thought of Lennon's "Imagine" as one of histories greatest pieces of music. The way this artist has used the song to create this video is absolutely brilliant. I have watched it myself now more than 10 times, and each time it makes me cry. Literally! Not just sad, I mean that I wipe tears off my face.

Why?

After 9/11, and during the run up to invasion of Iraq, I was an active chat room talker. (as you know) During that time I spent a lot of time telling people that invasion was wrong. That we should let the weapons inspectors do their job, and that what Bushco was telling us was pure hype. For the most part I stood alone. I even permanently alienated a few pretty good friends over the issue. But after Invasion had begun I made the decision to support the troops. I made the statement many times to this effect, but that Bush and company had better not be lying to us, that our boys and girls better not have to die for lies!

Then I learned about the munitions bunkers within Iraq that had not been guarded and as a result "someone" emptied them of approximately 300 tons of high explosives! We all wondered, where did it go? Then I learned about the looting of the schools, the banks, the hospitals, the museums and every public building, BUT we were at the same time militarily guarding the Oil Ministry! We could afford troops to guard the oil buildings, but could not protect the irreplaceable museum artifacts?
And in the face of all this, a special team of US military intelligence was out looking for the so called WMD's.

On the day Bush said "Mission Accomplished" I decided to get politically active and started my political blog about that time. Then later I discovered the White Rose Society forums and considered I might be a part of and have my outrage reach more people. Since then we have learned that there were no WMD's and that they KNEW there were no WMD's. We were told it was a war on terror, but in fact we all know that we are less safe today then we were before 9/11. And after becoming politically active, thanks in large part to the owner of the POAC (Project for the Old American Century) that also runs the WRS forum site, I learned about the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and how this conspiracy is all a part, the basic floor plan for world events that have made me so angry. And that nearly everyone high up in US politics is ALSO a member of the PNAC! That in fact, there is a conspiracy! And though this single aspect, the idea of conspiracy turns most people away, I read on, and became informed enough to understand that this conspiracy is in fact, reality! That in fact these people have stolen my country from me!

Since then a lot has happened. We have Abramoff scandals and his connections with K-street. We have Global warming and the idea of Voluntary Human Extinction. We have the Lies that still kill people every day in Iraq! We have the thousands that pay an unfortunate price in New Orleans. We have the systematic dismantling of nearly every Environmental, Economic, Safety, and Law Enforcement safeguards. We have issues of Gerrymandered elections. We have issues with the Supreme Court being stocked with Neo-con Conservatives. We have a President that over 750 times has made signing statements when signing legislation that states these laws do not apply to him. We have a President that is quoted saying that the Constitution is "just a god damned piece of paper!"

Xxxxxx,
I understand that you don't want to distract from your dreams to bother with these things. But the fact is, your ability to follow up on your dreams is directly effected by these things you don't want to be involved with. And that my friend, is exactly why even though you don't want too, you keep having an opinion on them. The People in Iraq face many horrible realities. The People of Iraq, the Nation of Iraq DID NOT ATTACK US, and were never any threat to us! How can a person sleep at night knowing that these innocent people, men women and children, are being horribly killed IN THEIR NAME? So far at least 50,000!

More than 2500 American soldiers have died in Iraq now, and more die virtually every day. Each and every soldier that does, or has a body part blown off, or comes home and then later commits suicide because the images in his mind haunt him. All of them died because their commander in Chief lied to them. And they all died IN YOUR NAME! They are Dying for the lies, for you! And if that reality doesn't rock your world to it's foundations, nothing ever will!

Sorry Xxxxxx, but that's the real world today.
Ignoring it doesn't make it go away.
And I'm sorry to have to be the one that has to smack you in the face with it. I place a high value on you and your friendship very, very much, which is exactly why I had to make this statement to, and for you.

Because I know that your heart is filled with Compassion and Empathy for the people of the world. I know that you really do care!

Being informed is the first step towards helping, and you can't be fully informed is you aren't involved. Understanding also that If you are partially involved, you can only be partially informed.
Right now, the world is in crisis.
Right now, your desired reality is under attack.
Just remember that the more informed you are, the less that they can use you.
Because they can depend on only two things to accomplish thier agenda, Ignorance and fear.
Thus far they have been quite successful, but we're rapidly gaining on them.

Peace be with you, and your entire world.
Imagine, if you will.

thumbup.gif Good letter Sky. I think it was hearing about the no- bid contracts for Halliburton that put me over the edge and is still what I consider one of the most outrageous and revealing acts of the whole affair.

A very good letter. While I'm not yet involved to the extent you are, I spend hours a day reading, trying to understand what the truth is. When I find something that makes sense and I feel is important, I forward the link to my friends--not the article, but the link. I find it almost heartbreaking when a good friend writes me and asks me to not send them anymore, as they are not interested in politics.

If we fail, they will be very interested in politics, but it will be too late for them. What happened to the determiniation of our forefathers who pledged their lives, fortunes and honor for this nation?

A friend and I were talking yesterday about the direction our nation is heading and what we need to do. Neither of us really want to stand up and bring attention to ourselves, but what choice do we have. It could prove dangerous, yet not standing up and speaking out is more dangerous. I wonder if our founding fathers felt the same way.

fool you once, shame on them.
Fool yu twice, shame on you.
Fool you thrice, Hellooooooooo?

Whichtruth,

You may not be involved in the way that I am. I may not be involved in the way that say, Cindy Sheehan is.
But, you ARE involved in that you make the effort to be informed, and to understand using that information.
In fact, that might make you the MOST involved among us.

It doesn't matter how that you are involved, or how much you sacrifice, or how hard you work, or how much you write, or how many forum posts you post, or how loud, or commited, or anything else.

What matters is that you ARE involved, in what ever way that you are!

Edit to add.....
