omg, you anal little thing, you plot it on paper? LMAO! (ok i did that once too) Usually I just buy the plants, remember to rotate them, and try & remember what stuff likes to be by what other stuff...ie maters like onions, not beans.

no comment on my cool passion flowers harummmph!

3 weeks out from veggies here yet, sighhhhhhh

Ps: that was about the size of my first house...and my garden was always 2x the size of the house, I fed all the lil old ladies in the neighborhood! Now, house is larger, garden smaller sighhhhh

Well, last year was my first year gardening and it kinda got out of control. We had to tip toe everywhere and some things were just insane. I had summer squash that actually swallowed up a couple of tomato plants. And I can't do anything without totally geeking out on it.

Here's last year's, and the lovely Mrs. POAC:

Last year, towards the end of the season, I lost the battle with the weeds. The front looked much better. This is the bad back end. I think this year will be much improved.

Looks prolific! My neighbors hate that I get so much more produce than them, and they never have one weed in there garden...lol..mine co-exist fine with the weeds. Hi Mrs Poac!!! wavehello.gif I'd kill my husband if he posted my butt! (of course he'd need a wide angle lens to get MY butt!) redface.gif

Cool tip...the first few times you mow, use the bagger, and spread clippings thick between rows! Im a lazy gardener, by august im so about not weeding at 90 & humid! in the fall, rototill it in, and its instant compost! No weeds at all!

Yeah, im down to one ea. of summer squash & zucchini, they take over the world & produce more than I can eat & give away.

No real space here for a garden, one of these days I'll consider a potted garden.

The last time I had a real garden, it was huge. Roughly 25x75. Hired a tractor to rototill it.
It was prolly about 1/2 grown, when the neighbors cow got lose and stomped all over it!
They said "sorry". I wasn't happy but figgured being pissed at them wouldn't help much.
I fixed it best I could and it did fine, though it never had that awesome Home & Garden look again!

Growing a garden offers a huge return on your investment.
Plus, there's something about it's nature.
The Hunter/Gather instinct I think.
It just feels good to pick a sweet pea you grew and eat it!

Tj,

I have been contemplating posting my garden pics, but it would shame you and your just starting to plant in May self.

I planted early March and I have so many tomatoes right now, I don't know what do to. HAHAHAHA.

Ha! They are oh sooo Red and delicious, nonetheless! HA! you damn yankees, if the South is bad, at least its hot here. It does also help that I am the plant growing ninja.

My garden is teenie tiny. I had to dig it by hand and crumble the clay earth until my hands actually cramped. BUT I mixed in some humus and peat, so it is sooo healthy and beautiful. Honestly, its growing so well, its about busting out of the boarders. I have 9 tomato plants, 3 bell peppers, 6 jalepenos, ton of cucumbers, ton of yellow squash, garlic, about 5 million onions, spearmint, basil, parsley, camomile, oregano, chives, and 2 cherry tomato plants. In a few months I will put in cantelopes, watermellons and in fall I will start my winter harvest...lettuce, spinach, potatoes. Any other suggestions for winter growing? The temp is really moderate here, with only a few short weeks in late jan, early feb when it stays anywhere close to freezing. Doesn't even get "cold" here til well into Nov.

Yeah, I am ninja too, have 50 or so thriving houseplants, my garden is always full & yummy. I love plants!
Cooler weather stuff...carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, artichoke, brussells (yuck to brussel sprouts) sugar peas. Oh god, I wanna nice big beefsteak to slice on some grilled burgers! Ya might wanna actually till in some sand if youre really heavy clay there, for drainage, and to help the peat/clay mix stay fluffy.

Up here in the NW it's not the cold, it's the wet. Plant too soon and yer seeds just rot.
However, on the other hand, there's lots of water, and the soil is rich enough to get it's own tax breaks!
