The reply to this question got rather lengthy,
so it seemed the best option was to start a new string.

sb has generated a wonderful thing!

She created an activism blog to follow through to the end on the investigations on ABC and the three therapists of the exploitive and sensationalistic Primetime show of April 21st, 2006 :

Excellent Blog!
Well laid out, easy to read and follow.

Thanks so much, I just hope that it helps out anyone who decides to take a peek. It would be nice to follow this issue to the end. Maybe even getting some sort of positive result.

Watch it Dr Phil, because we are keeping an eye on you!

A lot of us have been posting at ABC Primetime forum that we are going to watch Dr. Phil's so-called 'Abuse Show" today, and I can just see him salivating in his dressing room right now , calculating the ratio of potential ratings to dollar signs.

I don't want Mr. Phil to get the wrong impression, because we are actually keeping an eye on HIM, not watching his show. We are going to be observers, albeit a bit jaded after Diane's debacle. We are going to be a large group of parents and child advocates making sure that this "Abuse Show" does not, in fact, end up abusing the children even moreso!

We are on to you, Dr Phil and your miserly band of TV psychologists. So even if you portray the most sincere & genuine helping hand to this family & their children you can conjure up, we won't be fooled. Exploitation is still exploitation by any other name.

Fool me once , your fault. Fool me twice, MY fault!

These "Child Abuse Reality TV Shows" are in clear violation of federal CAPTA Confidentiality Requirements:

sb has allowed me to blog on her site (thanks sb! smile.gif ), so I have now done my first blog entry for the first time in my life all by myself biggrin.gif . (Public Announcement: I guess I'm not a blog virgin anymore redface.gif ) Now I finally know the difference between a post and a blog! Po Bronson, journalist, is seeking justice for Kyle's cause. I've entitled my first blog "Po Bronson- Journalist & Advocate for Justice":

Po Bronson - journalist & advocate for justice

Po Bronson has written two articles about the episode we all now know to be the infamous ABC Primetime "Stepfamilies" show. His efforts in his writings demonstrate an ability to be an objective and yet compassionate observer. He is open-minded enough to balance all sides of the issue to the reader in the noble hope that eventually the truth will be revealed. His first article on this topic is entitled "Save Diane Sawyer's Job", and can be said to be a journalist's perspective of another journalist's dilemma with situational ethics.

http://www.pobronson.com/blog/2006/04/save...awyers-job.html

After the first article, Po was in communication with a member of Kyle's Mom's side of the family, and became enlightened with some revealing information. The second article, "Kyle's Family Speaks - When A Journalist Should Intervene, Part 2", is written with this new perspective in mind:

All factors thus far appear to indicate that Po Bronson reports fairly and seeks justice at the same time.

Cool yank! I am proud that you don't let things go once they aren't hot news anymore.

Po is an interesting dude. I just finished reading his book "What should I do with my life?" and I think he may be an actual honest journalist/author.

I agree, Po is very cool... he seems to be willing to dig and take a second look at situations until he gets to the bottom of it > the TRUTH!

I think, given a different set of circumstances,
that Amanda would make a great Investigative Journalist.

Not only does she do it well, but she actually digs it!

Truth be told, I've always wanted to be an investigative journalist.

Lefty, what got you hooked in the first place? Did you dabble in it in high school or college, or even career-wise?

That was my first career choice in high school ... we certainly share a passion for it! I took journalism junior year, and then photo-journalism senior year, and then parents steered me towards Ed. major in junior college. Soon after came marriage and baby carriage, and well, you know the "rest of the story", as Paul Harvey would say!

I think the roots of it though was the fact that I loved archaeology during grade school years, and collected as many Nancy Drew mystery books as I could up till the age of junior high. It seems mystery lures me in, but I want to know the answers after that! cool.gif

That must be why we sought POAC site. What if we invited Po Bronson here, wow , he would be totally enlightened!

That's totaly nuts, Yank. I was the SAME way. Early in my life I was fascinated by archeology. That led to me being a super questioner. I do not take anything for face value and have to know the story behind everything. Loved Nancy Drew books. Have always been a library girl because I have to have vast references for anything and everything. I own several thousand books. Read every one of them. But I keep them because they create an awesome reference library for me.

Even National Enquirer has taken up the cause! :

"POLL

The ENQUIRER is asking readers to decide if Diane Sawyer should be fired for not going to authorities after she and her Primetime Live producers first learned of 16-year-old girl named Kyle's alleged abuse, as reported in the May 8 issue of The ENQUIRER. You tell us what you think and we'll turn over the results to Diane's bosses at ABC.
SHOULD DIANE SAWYER BE FIRED OVER THE STEPFAMILY ABUSE SCANDAL? ":
