Hello all,
Just an update from me.
My company lost the contract it had with the prefectural high schools, which means I no longer have a job teaching in high schools.
They are currently scrambling to place all of the teachers effected by this shock, but for now, I'm facing a possible listing as "redundant" which would mean they would let me go.
I'm not a religious man, but if you guys could keep your fingers crossed for me, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scorp

I wish you good fortune Scorp.
And should the worst come to pass, which we certainly hope it does not,
but if it does,
Please keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and purpose,
even if today we have not a fucking clue what that might be!

You're young (oops!), smart (you probably like that), experienced and obviously have the courage to go where fate and opportunity take you; you'll be fine. Just to piss you off though I'm gonna say a prayer for ya'.

Sorry to hear the news. Of course, I will cross my fingers, say a prayer and burn some cedar and some sage for you. Bust out the pipe if you ask. Oh, and being sent half-way 'round the world only to be told your job may no longer exist qualifies you as an honorary American (US variety). We do that all the time here.

So True Zooks.
Scorp, I am sorry to hear that. Can you get a job with the company that picked up the contract or did they drop that whole part of the school?
Also, They really really really really really really need goo teachers in America and we are always hiring!

Sorry to hear this Scorp, It's times like these to look at what you do have... if you got your health and mind (I know you got the latter, and hope you got the former) then you've got it all together, doors will open and better days are ahead! Are you looking at America or Canada... we want you here, but what does your Mom wish for, and where do you want to go? So many questions, but for now good fortune and many blessings to you Scorp, and please KEEP US POSTED!
Best wishes,
Yank

I'm not officially leaving Japan yet.
The company may have a job for me that will open up in the middle of this month, but it won't be teaching in a high school. It'll be teaching conversation to kids in the evenings and some elementary school work in the day time. Not my idea job, but it's better than being laid off.
As for moving to the US, I don't think that will ever happen. No offence, but if I have to choose between Canada and the USA, I choose the great white north

Thanks so much for this guys. I have been really bummed out over this and, as always, your mere text has lifted my mood.
Thanks,
Scorp

Good luck, Scorp, whatever happens...consider the fact that since you've taught (and are teaching) in Japan, it does look good on a resume. It makes you appear to be "well-rounded and willing to take a few risks" kind of fellow.

Gives you that "international aura!"
