Assuming only ten Democrats end up supporting the censure resolution, where does that leave us? Well, take a look at these internals from the latest CBS poll (via Atrios) :



If only 10 of 44 Democrats are willing to stand against the President, that gives Bush a greater approval rating among Democratic Senators (77%) than among his own base (74%). Cowards.

These posts of Sky's just vindicates what MM, lefty, AFW and I were saying earlier this week.

The Dem's sold you out. Every US citizen who cherishes everything your country is supposed to stand for was SOLD OUT by the Dems (who apparently love GW more than the citizens do).

I posted these, why in the hell do you spose I did that?

I was wondering why you were posting these. I was thinking, "Damn, I wish I had found these 4 days ago!". They prove my point perfectly.

I can see it from your angle. These articles are being printed so that people won't vote Dem because they are cowardly, and therefore vote Republican.

The problem is that the Dems deserve to have these pieces written. I could stand on your side of the arugment IF the dems hadn't been so deserving of the label "cowards".

However, they do, and therefore, are not deserving of my respect.

I do not know that story.

I agree 100%. The Dems need to get their act together. They are being handed the Nov. elections AND the 2008 Presdency on a silver platter, and they are dropping the ball.

I think that any censure/impeachment resolution shoul be about something less ambiguous and "spinable" than wire-tapping. Lies about wms's etc.

Oh come on guys, dont you see that no matter what party wins, they will spin it as a Victory for them? They probly all ready have the Left-wing propagana ready. Not only have they changed what is means to be A Republican, nor just the Democrats, but they are trying to change what it means to be an American.

So, in away I understand how Sky wants to "save" his party. Hell I am trying to do the same with the Republicans. But what else is there? I know the answer to this question and I hate it, I hate it to the core and so does every other single American.

One more thought on Feingold's proposal. Since the Atty General says it's legal (the wire-tapping) it has to be assumed to be so until a court rules otherwise or not, sadly it could go either way. So Dems censure him on the grounds that he broke the law and the courts rule later that he didn't break the law. Then what?

In the mean time, because Conyers already has the impeachment motion that is still on the floor,
Feingold has jump started that debate as well!

All True. Any challenge to Bush would have to be decided by the Judicial Branch, which I think is where the issue should be decided anyway since it is a Constitutional issue. If the Judicial Branch decided it were not illegal, then there is nothing to be done. This is the way Democracies transform into something else. It happened to Germany back the 1930's and it can happen here too. Also, once these transformations start taking place, it can be a slippery slope for more transformations.



I'm sure the Democrats will be just as supportive of Conyer's impeachment motion as they were of Feingold's censure motion. If censuring is not even to be considered, then that means impeachment is sure to be considered! woo-hoo!

From what I understand, there was an update to the law to give a 45 day leadway before a court order is provided. So say that they want to spy on me, they could do so for 45 days and stop on the 46th, therefore leaving no papertrail and never having to be accountable.

Gonzales continues to assert that Bush did nothing illegal, but clearly it was illegal. Congress has now just changed everything so that now he can do whatever he wants legally. As if that actually matters to him.

That wasn't meant as an attack against you. Sorry you took it that way. That was an expression of my hopelessness in a system that is so rigged that there are no absolutes. With Republicans in charge and with Democrats unwilling to challenge them, we cannot expect "the Law" or "the Constitution" as we understand it to be upheld. That is what I was saying here.

I have lost faith in the "system" long ago. Its been compromised by Republican and Democrat alike.

Lost faith in the only system available to attack and fix the system.
