Open Letters to George W. Bush
Letters to the president from his ardent admirer Belacqua Jones

Dear George,
What a breakthrough! What a milestone in the ascent of man! The Senate Intelligence Committee is bending over and giving you a pass on you illegal wiretapping. Sure, they have added some additional oversight. But why sweat it? Legal niceties have never stood in your way before. Does the Senate really think you’re going to pay attention now?
Think of it! Back in the days when this country stood for something you’d be wearing an orange jumpsuit by now. Instead, you have the Senate dancing to your tune with nary a murmur. Never in our history has such an unpopular and reviled president yielded such power.
What Palmer and McCarthy started, you are finishing.
You have legitimized paranoia, legalized illegality,
and in doing so have revitalized American democracy.
Your admirer,
Belacqua Jones
