COLLEGE REPUBLICAN DIRTY TRICKSTERS SUPPRESS STUDENT PARTY AT UCSD
Berkeley College Republicans have a nice little web site that includes a revealing post from some slimy Republican dirty tricksters at UCSD about the numerous dirty tricks they used to get the entire Students First! slate disqualified in 2003. Evidently, what these aspiring Karl Roves did was to (1) get a club registered under the name Students First! in order to sow confusion, (2) recruit a candidate with the same name as a Students First! candidate, (3) rip down every poster put up by the authentic Students First! slate, and (4) create bogus campaign signs designed to make the Students First! party look bad. Here's how these McCarthyite UCSD twerps described their modus operandi:
In order for this simple scheme to work, we had to keep this a secret. If the communists found out about our club, they would surely change the name of their slate. Thus ruining our devious plan. For weeks we did not mention the idea, and we denied the existence, even to close friends of the “Students First!” club. Roughly a week or two after the creation of the club, I started thinking about other ways that we could use the club name to hurt our opponents. We realized that we could partake in the biggest anti-campaign the world had ever seen. We could print handouts that looked exactly like the ones the evil slate would use. We figured that they would use much of the same designs that they had used in the previous election. After all, they had won, why would they deviate from a winning plan? They didn’t. We also realized that we could tear down any of their signs, by simply stating school policy saying only the organization that posts signs/banners can take them down. Well, as soon as we had registered the name “Students First!” as our club name, anyone who posted as us would be violating our right to post our material. Therefore “unofficial”(those posted by the “Students First!” slate) posters/signs/banners, could be taken down by us, because we never authorized them.
"Communists" was the term they used for the progressive student party on the UCSD campus. The authentic Students First! candidate Kevin Shawn Hsu was branded a communist, simply because he did precinct walks for Howard Dean. According to Karl-Rove-in-training Phil Palisoul, "While “communist is a very strong term, it is a deserved one, this guy [Kevin Hsu] was a “Dean-iac” walking precincts for that moron." Evidently, in the mindset of these morally stunted pinheads, declaring somebody a "communist" can legitimize any tactic no matter how sleazy. The fact that the Berkeley College Republicans is providing a forum for these guys to gloat about their McCarthyite tactics is reason enough to be suspicious of anything that BCR plans to do in upcoming student elections.

The student newspaper is conservative, and there is no progressive counterpart. My local Democratic club is trying to make one, but cannot find enough editors. Just goes to show how few progressives there are at my campus, almost none.

My college radio, all conservative.

If California was so liberal, howcome there isn't a liberal website league for California? Obviously California is predominately GOP and my college is heavilly GOP (2-1).
Liberal is a myth at my college, how about yours?
I'm sure you want a better description, sure lets start with what I posted before. The students at my college have a newspaper called the California Review, which is a right-wing political piece of crap. One day at my college, they were playing evangelical rap music. Marine Corps and navy displays on monuments and t-shirts are fairly rampant as well as other patriotic displays. Our discount cards have a proud to be American theme. Its not uncommon for someone to have a button for Bush Cheney. Progressives are refered to as communist and one pro-Dean activist was scream down and censored by a bunch of angry students. Bloggers from UCSD are all Republicans. The UC Democratic club is almost empty, and they have a hard time finding writters while the GOP already has its own newpaper. Marines are also very prevelent at this campus. This campus is a Republican hellhole and I should have applied to Berkely. I feel like I'll take a beating if I ever spoke out against the omnipresent right-wing majority at my campus. Sometimes if I wonder if the Dem club will even last. Liberal is practically a myth at my school.
