I was 9 and in the 4th grade.
I was outside playing at recess, four square ball, when I heard the news.
A whisper ran through the playground like a prairie fire, (someone has killed Kennedy!)
I was too young to know on my own what the meaning of it was, except I did know it was bad.
But the teachers, well, they are teachers after all.
I will always remember that moment in my life when Camalot died.
Irish-American Catholic kid here, so my family was big on Kennedy

! I was only 5 , but knew the impact was big.... went to Zayre's with my Dad and a lady clerk came up to him and said Kennedy was shot. When we went home, Mom was crying... then we found out he died. Silly kid that I was , the funeral pre-empted my TV cartoons all day long, so I was miserable not just because of the funeral procession. I was living in Miami at the time, and saw Kennedy at Miami International Airport making a speech three days before he was shot in Dallas... Many years later, I wondered if Oswald was lying in wait in that crowd. Gives me the chills...
