Intresting, I wonder what the equation behind it is.

very strange--It is right every time I pick a number and about 1/2 the time when I just pick out a symbol without picking a number.

Like any magic trick,
it remains magic, untill the trick explained.

This works because of a mathmatical equation.
I had it explained to me some time ago, but don't have any links.

None the less, it is fun.

It's easy. There are only 12 numbers that can be arrived at by using that technique, and if you look at the list, those 12 numbers will always have the same symbol.

But the first 2 or 3 times were cool.

These kinds of things are fun to do with students, especially if they're in elementary school. When I was teaching, I'd have a crazy CAT in the HAT type of hat. I'd put it on, and tell the kids to get out their calculators, papers, and pencils as we were going to play Mind Joggers. I'd tell them the hat gave me the ability to read their minds, or figure out their secret numbers, etc.

Of course, they were getting practice with math computation/application in an enjoyable way.

One of their favorites was called Pick a Secret Number. I'd ask them to choose a number between 10 and 100. Then to add 95. Cross off the number in the hundred's place. Add the digit crossed off. Add 4. And the resulting number should've been their original secret number.

Now I play these games with my granddaughter.

I don't see how that could be possible. unsure.gif

Sorry, don't know what you're talking about. Did you see Scorp's explanation? blink.gif
