This made me think of that famous quote.

"If you stare into the Abyss long enough the Abyss stares back at you." --Friedrich Nietzsche

I don't think anyone recovers from having the abyss stare at you.

And then there's the passage immediately preceding that quote, which says,

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in so doing, he does not become a monster."

I wonder what will become of this young guy.
