I just heard on Pacifica Radio's KPFK online news that General Augusto Pinochet's daughter, who fled Chile to escape tax fraud charges for not reporting millions of dollars in secret bank accounts in Chile and elsewhere, has been denied asylum in the US as a political refugee, and returned to Chile to face the music. Perhaps if she had blown up a Cuban commercial airplane or two, we would have taken her. We have, unfortunately, already surpassed our national quota for corrupt politicians and their relatives. But we always seem to have more room for right-wing terrorists.

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me at all.
