Thank you!!!!!

Sooo nice of you all to remember...... and thank you Sky.... Yes I am 27 and still holding.... as my husband said:

QUOTE

And my lovely husband just got a few points taken away! He was doing sooo well this morning, lovey, kissy, taking me grocery shopping for all our elitist liberal gourmet foods...... (we love to cook and experiment with food...plus I am working on a poac cookbook)

Now he says I am an old geezer! tongue.gif rolleyes.gif 5 point deduction for him! BWAHAHAHAH

I'll have to thank Gadzooks for sticking up for me.,... although everyone says it is hard turning 30... I believe 35 is the hardest I have had. I am now getting grey hair, wrinkles, and glacoma! Yep... was at the eye Dr. yesterday... she said "your old and have glacoma!" (so does my mom.. so I have been expecting it! now on to the specialist for some base line crap and eye drops!) Whoo hooo turning old is fun!

A young gal at work asked how old I was going to be... after my response... she blerted out "OMG your middle age!" I had to inform this young, early 20 something, thin perky boobed youngster that 60 is the new middle age and she is barely old enough to realize what good sex is! HA that taught her. ohmy.gif

Anyway... Thank you all... it is a bright and sunny day here in Iowa... mid 30's.....temp outside and age of all people in the house. Guess I am off to enjoy a cocktail and a little gourmet cooking with my honey!

Most women aren't much good til they reach 40!
I suspect with a little practice,
in 5 years you'll be on the upside of that curve!
biggrin.gif

About getting old, a famous woman once said,
"Gettin old ain't for sissies!"

And as my ex-wifes Swedish (lutafisk and all) Gram used to say,

"We're too soon old, and too late smart!"

clap.gif Happy Birthday , young 'un! clap.gif Wish I knew how to do more spectacular graphics, I'm not in the "techie generation". I'm still a youngster at 47 and a Red Hat wannabe> gotta wait 3 whole years to be a geezer with a Red Hat Society Party! Enjoy that lovely Iowa day on your BD with your honey (Sue Bee honey, we presume? biggrin.gif )

Have fun (as always)!

TJ and I both laughed out loud at this one! Thanks much! Gives us a practice goal! HAHAHAH

And do you have the lutafisk recipe that you would be willing to share?

I have been working on this cookbook for a little over two years.....and am still searching for recipe's from around the world.... that are not currently published, family recipe's, etc. I recently located a great software program to input these, which gives nutritional value, weight watcher points, $$$ per recipe (US only) etc. to enhance our cookbook. I am hopefull that by next christmas season we will have a poac cookbook.

Sooo if any of you have recipe's from your family that you would be willing to share! I would love to use them. I have some collected... and will be giving credit to "Poac forum screen names" in the recipe area....

If you have a recipe... please pm me with it... also please note the title of the recipe will change to something fun and poac in nature.

We have plenty of 'heartland' receipe's....

and some german, dutch, 'heritage' recipe's.

We need all other countries... So members with middle eastern, asian, swedish, russian, spanish, even east coast, etc. recipe's from appetizer to main course and dessert... please please share!

Tj and I have vowed to try each and every recipe in house (providing we can get the needed ingredients in no where Iowa...(this our new grocery store / elitist liberal shopping expiditions)

I have seen Lutafisk, and could not be compelled to taste it.
Was the nasteist looking glob of stuff I ever seen, and smelled as bad as it looked!

I don't her my ex's grandmothers recipie, but here's one I just stole off the net.
You get the general idea.

Maybe you should try this before including it.
Tell TJ "yum yum".

Lutefisk from scratch

feeds 10 people
time needed: about 2 weeks

Ingredients:
1 kg dried fish
100 g caustic soda <------ The good part, lye
30 liters of water

Saw the fish in suitably sized pieces or leave it whole. Put in water. Leave in water in a cool place for 5-6 days if cut in pieces, 8 days if the fish is whole. Change the water every day.

For the luting use a plastic or stainless steel or enamelled tub (the enamel must be unchipped). Wooden vessels, china or stoneware may also be used.

Place the fish in the tub with the skin side up. Dissolve caustic soda in the water, pour over the fish until covered complete by lut water. Leave the fish in a cold place for 3-4 days.

When the fish is completely luted, it will be well swollen and you should be able to put a finger through it. Rinse the fish and leave in cold water 4-6 days. Change water every day.

If the fish stays in water for too long after the luting, it may be soft and difficult to boil. Test boil a piece, if you are uncertain.

Do not make lutefisk in the warm season.

1 kg dry fish makes about 5 kg lutefisk.

You'll wind up with a semi-translucent mass of goo.

Actually, that is exactly what TJ said. Funny thing is... TJ always said I was Nancy Ragean... due to my anti drug stance......Guess I will have to change that one actually get a job that will be more liberal! smile.gif

And sorry to every one I do not know yet...

I haven't had much time to bet on-line with my job... and then TJ 's responsibilities.

But thanks again for the well wishes.

Recipes... to my pm please! smile.gif

Ahhhh all is better....

We are trying an asian... sticky bun recipe off the net..... pork sausage (and if you don't know.. pork is the iowa meat!..)

but trying to find the asian sticky bun recipe that is good is a challenge. TJ has warned me this is not time tested through generations...so be preparred! clap.gif clap.gif smile.gif smile.gif

scroogle (yes, scroogle, not google) pot stickers, not sticky buns. You wrap the cooked, seasoned meat in thin dough, like eggroll skins, and fry (but not deep-fry) 'em. Yum! tongue.gif Or maybe you want dim sum, more doughy, boiled dumplings. Also yum.

Fun Facts about

Happy Birthday to You

Happy Birthday to You, the four-line ditty was written as a classroom greeting in 1893 by two Louisville teachers, Mildred J. Hill, an authority on Negro spirituals, and Dr. Patty Smith Hill, professor emeritus of education at Columbia University.
The melody of the song Happy Birthday to You was composed by Mildred J. Hill, a schoolteacher born in Louisville, KY, on June 27, 1859. The song was first published in 1893, with the lyrics written by her sister, Patty Smith Hill, as "Good Morning To All."

Happy Birthday to You was copyrighted in 1935 and renewed in 1963. The song was apparently written in 1893, but first copyrighted in 1935 after a lawsuit (reported in the New York Times of August 15, 1934, p.19 col. 6)

In 1988, Birch Tree Group, Ltd. sold the rights of the song to Warner Communications (along with all other assets) for an estimated $25 million (considerably more than a song). (reported in Time, Jan 2, 1989 v133 n1 p88(1)

In the 80s, the song Happy Birthday to You was believed to generate about $1 million in royalties annually. With Auld Lang Syne and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, it is among the three most popular songs in the English language. (reported in Time, Jan 2, 1989 v133 n1 p88(1)

Happy Birthday to You continues to bring in approximately 2 million dollars in licensing revenue each year, at least as of 1996 accounting, according to Warner Chappell and a Forbes magazine article.

Oh, your Mom is having lots of fun I bet! I belong to their cyber version and have not attended yet... plan to before I turn 50. I have every intention of reminding them of my birthdate so I'll get a Red Hat crowning in person that day laugh.gif . Their rules are you wear lavender and pink until 50, then you wear purple and red. But my desk is already decked out in purple and red (quite the rebel rolleyes.gif )
