WHY THE "NEW WORLD ORDER" MUST BE REJECTED.

We are all of us irrespective of our nationality, religion or political persuasion facing an imminent threat of global perpetual war and the destruction of the very basis of civilized democratic society. This threat comes not from outside, but from within. The worlds leading exemplar of democracy, freedom, equality and habeas corpus itself has become that threat. Held for two hundred years in the highest esteem by western nations and in this the new millennium having attained complete global hegemony its leaders have implemented a new ideology. An ideology that has changed the world in which we live.

The fundamental tenets of this new vision of how America sees itself and its role in global affairs is outlined in a paper prepared prior to the appointment of the George W Bush administration by PNAC (project for a new American century). It requires America to deploy its immense military and economic dominance to lead the world whilst enforcing the adoption of American concepts of capitalism, freedom, and democracy. A superficial examination of American society will expose the dire failings of each of these. The corrupt and demented ideology of the neo -conservatives currently dictating policy to the Bush administration and in turn adopted by Great Britain, Australia and many other countries dependent upon America, must be recognized for that which it is; the principal threat to global peace and security in the world today.

Of course the neo-conservatives, the Rumsfelds, the Wolfowitz's, the Chenney's and the Perle's (amongst others) have deceived their allies into believing that the threat of Islamic terrorism is the gravest threat to global security. But of course such is nonsense. This is simply the diversion. The means to create the climate of fear necessary to enact the politics of fear. And thus far it has succeeded beyond wildest expectations. But the tide is inexorably turning. As the saying goes, "you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time," and the truth is emerging, and the people are nervous.

Such legislation as the patriot act in America, and the introduction of broad and ill-defined anti-terrorist legislation in Great Britain and Australia claimed necessary to protect citizens and national security, is no more than a smokescreen for granting government and security agencies unprecedented powers to control and manipulate populations. In the words of ex-patriot Australian journalist John Pilger, the neo-cons are carrying out a "messianic conspiracy called PNAC (project for a new American century) written by Bush's ideological sponsors shortly before he was "appointed" (my term) President. It foresaw his as a military dictatorship behind a democratic facade". Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern who once prepared daily White House briefings has said "the authors of PNAC and those now occupying positions of executive power used to be known as 'the crazies'. We should all be very worried about fascism".

True self realization means looking in the mirror and comprehending that a violent and undemocratic order is being imposed by those whose actions are little different from the actions of fascists". Despite the bans imposed upon the media to with hold the truth in relation to that which has and is happening in Afghanistan and Iraq and the activities of the US and British military, the truth can never be hidden completely nor for ever. The world is gradually becoming aware of and incensed by the crimes and injustices being committed by American and its coalition of the willing commanders.

Bookshops in the west as well as internet sites are full of information that offer the truth regarding the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and the horrendous crimes committed against their people. The question that must be asked in relation to war crimes past and present is why do the intelligentsia within the societies that are committing such crimes remain silent? Why do such individuals not stand up and declare their outrage at that which we all know to be true. In present circumstances, that the war on terrorism is but an excuse to implement policy that would be otherwise unconscionable?

How is it possible that an individual such as Alexander Downer, who has risen through the tiers of academia and politics to become the foreign minister of Australia, be sincere to himself and his country when he proclaims "we don't want to do anything irresponsible" (10/01/06, in regards to withdrawing Australian troops from Afghanistan and Iraq)? Is it conceivable that he does not comprehend that the violence, destruction and death occurring within these countries is a direct result of his own countries participation in the occupation? Of course, such is simply inconceivable. We are forced to deal with and attempt to understand what motivates powerful individuals who maintain control over our lives but are so evidently deluded by self interest, power and greed that they actually believe their own rhetoric.

To conclude this small expression of bemusement I would like to cite the words of Phillip Adams, an Australian journalist and writer I admire. He writes, "But the towers? That wasn't political. That was advertising, the launch of a campaign to increase public awareness without really having anything to sell. Except of course hatred, a product in ready supply with a growing market".
Let us hope that this new and insidious tyranny being imposed throughout the world by "a few bad men" at the helm of the most powerful nation on earth is recognized and rejected before it is too late.

I find your paper well thought out and interesting. But I do have to make my protest about the above quote. WE are standing up. YOU are standing up. This forum is standing up. And as someone said in another post, we make our little islands of sanity and then they grow and merge and eventually we are living, again, in a world of sanity (terrible paraphrase, sorry Zooks!)

I stand up everyday. I am the TOKEN LIBERAL (so love being called that) in my department. I stand up with my honest proclaimation of my beliefs. Sometimes I proclaim quietly and respectfully, sometimes I become angry and proclaim very loudly and with force. I hang posters on the walls of my office with my outrage written all over them. When asked my opinion, I tell it. When I hear someone being abused, I step in. When people stare at my bi-racial family---I ask WHY? And am happy to answer legitimate questions. I read. I don't ingest the news spewed by MSM without first researching it myself, looking at both sides--then I form my opinion of what is closest to the truth as I can come. I talk to my 4 year old son about things. He knows about the war in Iraq, and the bombs. He knows that sometimes even people with the best intentions can make mistakes and he knows that sometimes the "good guys" are only pretending to be good. I have quit more than one job because I could not stand for what they believed in, especially when they were doing somethings that I beleive to be categorically wrong. I can do more, and I will. But each tiny step I take is multiplied by the steps you take and the steps the rest of this board take and the steps that others who feel outrage take. It adds up. We are marching together, no matter how far apart we are, and things can change and do change. Hell, after 50 years of my mother's life, only this last month did she realize that things were amiss in the government, something I take credit for, because no matter how angry she got, I continued to show her things...and one day she stopped being angry long enough to check some things herself, and now she knows. That's how it goes. One person at a time, we all can make a difference.
