Bill Would Allow Arrests For No Reason In Public Place
Mon Dec 19, 7:31 PM ET

A bill on Gov. Bob Taft's desk right now is drawing a lot of criticism, NewsChannel5 reported.

One state representative said it resembles Gestapo-style tactics of government, and there could be changes coming on the streets of Ohio's small towns and big cities.

The Ohio Patriot Act has made it to the Taft's desk, and with the stroke of a pen, it would most likely become the toughest terrorism bill in the country. The lengthy piece of legislation would let police arrest people in public places who will not give their names, address and birth dates, even if they are not doing anything wrong.

WEWS reported it would also pave the way for everyone entering critical transportation sites such as, train stations, airports and bus stations to show ID.

"It brings us frighteningly close to a show me your papers society," said Carrie Davis of the ACLU, which opposes the Ohio Patriot Act.

There are many others who oppose the bill as well.

"The variety of people who opposed to this is not just a group of the usual suspects. We have people far right to the left opposing the bill who think it is a bad idea," said Al McGinty, NewsChannel5?s terrorism expert.

McGinty said he isn't sure the law would do what it's intended to do.

"I think anything we do to enhance security and give power to protect the public to police officers is a good idea," he said. "It is a good law in the wrong direction."

Gov. Bob Taft will make the ultimate decision on whether to sign the bill.

WEWS was told that Taft is expected to sign the bill into law, but legal experts expect that it will be challenged in courts.

Have you got your Mark of the Beast yet? Don't worry, you will.

This is something I ask fellow christians all the time...

"If this is the 11th hour, then what country would have to be the beast, described in the bible?"

The only answer is America. No other place fits, hell we even have a New Jeruslam ontop of a hill named Gog. Plus many more of the "signs" that mark the BEAST. In fact, I would not be suprised if it has been done on purpose in some form.

PS- Are we suppose to take your avatar of Drizzt as how you feel? An outcaste of your homeland? I love RS Salvator, he is one of my fav fiction writers.

These "new laws" will have to pass the test of legality through the courts.

Sometimes the best way to defeat bad legislation, is to let it pass.

Clearly the SCOTUS could not say this was constitutionally legal.

They already have, as far as your right to remain silent. Man arguing with his daughter in a truck pulled over beside the road. Police pulled up, man wouldn't give them his name. He wasn't doing anything wrong mind you, and he wasn't breaking a single law.

There's video of it on the web.

He was arrested and found guilty.

He appealed all the way to SCOTUS who upheld his conviction.

You do not have the right to remain silent and if you exercise that right, you will be thrown in jail, and maybe even tortured if you press the issue.

So much for the US Constitution and the SCOTUS.

Also, and don't take this personally, I think the idea "the best way to defeat legislation is to let it pass" is an incredibly treasonable and servile philosophy trumped only by its utter stupidity. You do not defeat legislation by letting it pass. Has never happened once in the history of time. Call it an insult to common sense.

And Nazis draw ever closer.
