I'm just sounding an idea.
It's not really my call anyway.

But I think JT does a valuable service here
works long hours and sometimes the money doesn't go far enough.

So what do you think?

A Mod will get this fixed soon.
I have no idea why it does that!
Radical Liberal
No.

It's become obvious from some things discussed recently that some of the most frequent, and in my opinion, valuable posters here are on a limited income. Their loyalty, longevity, and thoughtful input contribute greatly to the success of this forum and even a small fee might be a hardship for them. Perhaps a small fee for new members? Might help discourage trolls too. A guest catagory with limited privileges? Make the rest of us feel guilty with an occassional e-mail and we'll pony up once in awhile. I dunno about the communists.

Yes ma'am.

Thank you!
sky of mind
I gross about 30k.
After taxes and child support I get about 17k

I can afford a coupla bucks a month to support what I consider a worthy cause!
(I'm poor enough that I usually tip pretty good when the food and service is good, unlike wealthy people)

If POAC/WRS should decide to ever charge a user fee, I'd pay it. (I do donate whatever I can when I can, and/or I order from their online store. I know others do the same.)

I don't think the owners of this site are in this game to make money, but we do not live by bread alone. However, I also think the only way they would consider a fee is if they thought it was the only way to keep the site online.

However, we might think of the POAC this way:

QUOTE
What are we worth to you?

Are we worth the price of 3 Starbuck’s Lattes per week? $624/year

Are we worth the price of 2 Beers ($4 each, no tip) per week? $832/year

Are we worth the price of 2 Happy Meals per month? $120/year

Are we worth the price of a day at the movies each month? $120/year

Are we worth the price of a monthly manicure? $180/year

Well, what are we worth to you?
?

I can't afford Starbucks, except as an occasional treat.

I rarely drink anything anymore. A six pack can literally last me 6 months!

I don't do McDonalds, ever!

I go out to the movies maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

I've never had a manicure!

Still, a coupla bucks a month, over and above buying stuff from the store, wouldn't hurt me none.
POAC
I'll never make any content of the POAC site anything more than free. I'm here to get information out. If that means I gotta live off of mac & cheese, that's cool with me. We got guys getting shot at because of this administration, I can live in poverty and try to get them home. We all need to sacrifice a little. During WW2 we had to scarifice to beat the enemy across the sea. Today we have to sacrifice to beat the enemy in the Whitehouse.

There's been dry spells where I had to cut back on the site, stop archiving and researching, and get out of the house and work some outside jobs. Right now the site barely squeaks us by with enough to make the POAC a full time gig.

Did you know that for the first 2 1/2 years of the POAC I worked 10-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, and made about 30 cents an hour. Talk about shitty wages!!! eek.gif

But that brings me to an interesting point. The winter fundraiser was supposed to start yesterday. I'm holding off until after the first of the year. I figure most people are tapped out due to the holidays and asking for help would just be a waste of time. But ICH and TruthOut.org just did theirs on time and from what I've heard, people aren't shelling out the donations this time around like they have in the past. Truthout was really hammering hard to try to drum up some funds. And on my end, things have been odd, too. I've had several people cancel their monthly subscriptions. All in the past week. That's really odd. But I think the holidays are just killin' peoples finances. We only have about 20 people that donate monthly and the average amount is 2-5 bucks a month, so it doesn't seem like a lot, but for us it really is. Especially considering it's taken me 3 years to get 20 people to sign up for anything at all.

So my feeling is, that it's up to me to offer clever products that people will want to purchase and to maximize my profits from the sales of the merchandise. Nobody likes the idea of giving money away for nothing, but if they are buying a shirt and the money from that sale goes directly to the POAC, then people are much more willing to part with a few bucks.

Sorry I'm rambling. But anyway. The POAC will never hold back any content to those who can't/won't pay. I'll also never accept outside advertisements. There are some ads on the left margin of the site, but I'm not being paid to run those. I am, however, getting a small percentage of each sale that they get from the POAC website. But this site and 100% of it will always be free and independent.

Which really sucks, because I get enough traffic that I could make hundreds of dollars a day in ad revenue. Seriously. But I try not to think about that.

You know TJ, sometimes I worry about you!
You sound like me, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody! blink.gif

I would subscribe, but I'm so close to the line that I can't risk coming up short.
Unfortunately I'm also a terrible procrastinator.
Having an automatic payment from me would be way cool.
And I would, but don't feel comfortable with the first part.

On the good side, I won a $275 gift card from Home Depot at my company X-mas party.
Among other things, I'm gonna get to do my kitchen and bathroom floors!
Just another one of those carpenter projects I have never done before,
and won't let that stop me from doing it anyway!

Hang in there TJ. My $$ will be along soon.
I need more Liberal Clothes!
Seems I always get comments from strangers when I wear them.
I still get comments on the Google signs in the truck windows too!
Usually I'm asked what PNAC is?
I reply with, "You got access to the internet?......"
MasterMind
I just save up my money and try to buy 5 shirts or more at a time, so it comes in bigger chunks. To me it just seems better in large chunks.
POAC
Thanks for helping out you guys. I really appreciate it.

Thanks soon, for noting that charity begins at home. I was chased away from another site that started out free but then started charging a monthly maintenance fee. The fee was not high, but I was afraid to have my card "out there" subject to automatic withdrawal every month.

But I will try to shop the POAC store after Christmas bills are paid off (gulp!) I won't be able to get a lot, but hopefully that POAC logo will advertise the TRUTH as well as bring in more newbies here ! (Ill try to buy something that doesn't mention GOP or Republican, because that will alienate everybody where I live> but if it says NEOCON , then it will "out" the message!) Hopefully sky's prediction that this will be one of the hottest sites by summer will come true! I already got sky's free "Google PNAC" sign in my car window, and I've driven everywhere in a good-sized populated area to show it off biggrin.gif

POAC is one of the best PNAC exposing sites I have seen, if not the best, and it really makes my skin crawl that the good folks that run and operate the POAC have to worry about stuff, while the PNACers in the White House get away with , well, just about everything under the sun! When I think of all the folks like Cindy Sheehan too, who lost their sons and daughters to the PNAC hidden agendas, then how much sacrifice in dollars and cents will ever measure up? Not enuf, that's for sure ! mad.gif

Hopefully when I get myself situated after New Year's , I'll shop till I drop at POAC store rolleyes.gif

I hope to help out a little in the meantime by writing politicians and celebrities today, to ask them to tell everyone they know who is seeking truth about the PNAC to check-out the POAC website . I am writing Barbra Streisand a letter, as she has been very vocal about the PNAC on her own website. Barbra's address is:

Barbra Streisand
c/o Martin Erlichman Associates, Inc.
5670 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 2400
Los Angeles, CA 90036

I will also be emailing Michael Moore at mike@michaelmoore.com, Congressman John Conyers at John.Conyers@mail.house.gov, and Congressman Jim McDermott at his contact form about the POAC at :

http://www.house.gov/mcdermott/contact.shtml

There are many well-known folks who are aware of the PNAC that may not be aware of the POAC and their mission to expose the truth> let's share the news of POAC with all of them! wink.gif

if this was a subcription site, then i would have no way of paying for it. since i have no credit cards, or any other type of money accounts. the only possible solution would be to ask my dad. and i dont want to do that. I dont like asking my parents for money, even though im only 17.

I plan on purchasing some posters in the near future.

I'd also pay a subscription fee for this site, even though I am far from rich!
