I thought this was so great I had to share; I just returned home from some errands and was listening to Rush on the car radio. SCOTUS nominee Alito was the subject and Rush explained that many Californians believe Geena Davis is really the President of the United States and cannot understand why she would appoint Judge Alito. Yes, he was serious. Got Oxy?

Maybe Leno did a man on the street doesn't know crap bit last night?
Odds are Calif is not unique in this regard.
Sad but true, some people are about as sharp as a dull crayon.
To many people the only things that are important are their most immediate needs and wants.
(Bathroom, food, sex, gas for the SUV, new shoes, who said what about them, etc)
And that's all they know!

And yet, many of these people vote!

My mistake, I believe it's Geena Rowlands (?)

I don't think many Californians, if any, believe this, the bizarre part is that many of Rush's listeners probably think they do because he said so.

Limbot is a dullard. He's paid to broadcast the latest "conservative"(radical really) talking points.

People who listen to him deserve the America that they're creating. "Rush said it on the radio; that settles it." is hardly critical thought.

Soon2b, it was brave of you to listen to the pigboy spewing. It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it. You have more stamina than I, the sound of his voice makes me queasy. Any "regular" person would be serving jail time...not Limpy.
Paid well to shriek his lies, he can afford the best lawyers. Our troops hear his swill.

And Californians are about to tell Ahnuld what he can do with his initiatives. He was reamed yesterday at a public meeting. We're still pissed off that Rove set up the recall of Davis. Ahnuld does not have a mandate and is plummeting daily in the polls.
Rush would like to think Californians are stupid. We have a lot of votes and we're blue.

AGREED! I can't stand to hear the voice of George Bush or any of the neocon criminals, either...much less old Limpnut!

If we expect them to be willing to listen to what we have to say, we have to be willing to do the same. When someone tells me that I should listen to Rush, etc., I tell them I DO! Do you listen to anyone on the other side of the issues so that you can form you OWN opinions? How can we argue thier positions if we don't know them?

Never with Rush, but I have softened my positions on some issues by listening to both sides. That there is considerable disagreement among credible scientists about the effect of global warming on hurricane intensity comes to mind. I hope they would be similiarly flexible given facts they may not have heard

That is a good and valid argument Soon2, but I will take exception and suggest a possibly valid counter.

Using Global warming as our example, my argument is this;
Suppose global warming is not a real issue. OK, then acting as if it were won't be a real catastrophy. And certainly it wouldn't hurt us to clean up the polutions, create less and despose of less. An earth friendly green policy can actually create jobs!

On the flip side, what if global warming is a REAL ISSUE? Will doing nothing hurt us? By the time the scientists who doubt global warmings reality (most of which are paid for by people with economic interests) by the time the doubters are convinced beyond a doubt, then clearly it's way to late to save us! (as some have claimed, it may already be too late)

So, given these two options, which do you think would be the wises, most prudent thing to do? React as if Global warming might be real and do what ever we can to save ourselves from possibly killing off the only place in the entire universe suitable for our survival? Or continue doubting it's possibility, and risk that possible distruction of what we are rather found of. Life!?

And then, super impose this same argument on many of the issues that seperate the reds and blue in this country. Change the words a bit, and it works over and over again. So much so that one tends to wonder why bother even listening to them anymore?

Besides, when it comes to your Rabid Right Wing, they will NOT listen to you.
They will not listen to much of anyone, except Rush, Falwel, Limpbough, and Faux news.

All true Sky, and global warming is an indisputable fact. The argument I'm referring to is whether it specifically contributes to hurricane intensity. There's some statistical evidence that the intensity we've recently experienced is cyclical (looong cycles) and that g.w. may be only a secondary or tertiary cause or no cause at all. My feelings are that it is probably a direct cause today, but because there is some evidence to support opinions to the contrary, I'm willing to concede that they could be right. Global warming undoubtedly hurts our world in many other ways and both long and short term measures should be taken to reverse it

I agree.

It's a known fact that earths weather cycles generally with the cycles of the sun, which is an 11 year cycle.

Much like that dead air america radio. 1000 watts of pure hatred spewing through the airwaves. "My pecker knows no race, I'll screw a colored chick," Al Franken said. I'm glad they didn't pay their affiliate here and have been pulled off the air. Oh, hell, it's not like anyone here listened to them anyway.

As for Rush Limbaugh? Well, he has 250,000,000 reasons to laugh all the way to the bank.

I can't wait to return to Iraq, protecting the freedoms of even the dolts at that lame radio station.

Got weed, Mike Malloy?

We don't really have much choice but to listen to rightwing views since that's what's on the Cable Gnus infotainment shows. Faux....a total joke, (Roger Ailes) MSNBC and CNN painfully leaning over backwards day in and day out to give a positive spin to raping and pillaging by neocons who lie constantly.
Radio? Until lately a cesspool and I still have to stream AAR. Not carried here. But CystBoy comes in loud and clear. They (Clear Channel et al) own most of the airwaves.
I listened to Rush, hell I even watched his TV show. He made me sick ages ago. I know what that asshole has to say. The opposite of the truth. We all know the positions of the "other side", the Republicans, because it's the only spin that's on. Favorable to them. MSM has been corrupted absolutely. So, like all other Liberals, Progressives, I have to hunt the internet for what I want to know. Our troops get Rush....they get him loud and clear. If things were fair, they'd get Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy as well as Rush. Let them make up their own minds. Rush is lying to them. Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney....they're all lying. I don't hear that on the television. Ever. The Liberal side is rarely heard.

Rush is a proven liar. Proven again and again and again.
rcorporon
Ugh... Rush... in Japan, I used to listen to AFN (American Forces Network) as it was the only English radio station I could hear. MISTAKE.

I listened to Rush coming home one night, and I actually punched the radio. I had never heard Rush before, so I wasn't sure if he was as bad as I had been led to believe. He was worse.

How anybody could listen to that fat bastard rant for more that 3 seconds is beyond me. He is an idiot, and sadly, lots of people believe him. Al Franken's book about Rush should be required reading for all US citizens.

And you should have to pass an IQ test to get on the radio.
