Hello everyone,

I am newly arrived from Old Europe . France exactly (but lived in the UK for a while) and I ended up in North Carolina, not a liberal paradise but it could be worst. Well, I am using the world liberal but in Europe we don't really know what it means, you see in Europe people believe that Bush is a neo nazi and nobody understands why guns are legal, abortion is an issue, weird Jesus fanatics have taken over and Republicans are elected even so they are dumb and hurt people and the rest of the world, in Europe the people who don't understand Bush are called average citizens. Since they make 80% of us we don't have a word to describe who we are we. The 20% remaning are cold extreme right fascit and are probably the only one not to consider Bush being a f****** t*** (they do not have freedom of speech, well they do but not on TV since in France for instance there is a strong left wing media coverage, they get hamered quite often and get people to feel guilty about voting for them, which is good!).

About me>
You are probably wondering what I am doing here, well my wife is American, don't worry I chosed her well, she is on the bright side.
She is an RN (24) and I am a logistician (23) (dealing with supply chains and all that crap), we both are graduated BSN and BSC (honors), so we try to use our brain to decide on issues. I am glad i can find forums and websites to get infos on politics like this because I hate the TV in the US (except Animal Planet and Food Network, the only two channels with no (biased) -political- views).
I hate O'reilly, Ann Coulter and many others such as Pat Robertson or whoever he is. I can usually come up with two or three new guys to hate by watching TV every day.
God I hate O'reilly, I know i should not but since he doesn't like the French why should I forgive him.
Anyway have faith because on the other side of the Atlantic there is a "liberal" paradise from Portugal to Finland called Europe.

You sound like you'll fit right in!
I agree, Bill O is the worst. Listen to the Stephenie Miller Show,
she rags on him daily. Check her out in the "Right Wing World" thread.

Welcome!

Hello, Nomed.

O'Leilly is impossible for me to listen to...he just tells lies, all the time.
And he's incredibly rude and arrogant.

Mike Malloy on AAR is good. My favorite is Randi Rhodes.

Welcome Nomed,
Most American have failed to understand that the "cold extreme right fascists" even exist in our country. That is why they were able to take over. We probably don't have any greater percentage of these types of people as does France. However, the US undoubtedly has a much greater percentage of intolerant theocrats and 'dumb as dirt' lower class white rednecks (usually they are one in the same).

Here is how the coup by the extreme right-wing happened. The neo-con movement is formed of elite imperialists, whose only real goal is subjugation of third world countries to control valuable resources, in order to feed global corporatism and the military-industrial complex. All other considerations are inconsequential to them. By the late 1970's, they realized that they were too few in number to ever take control of the country. So, they came up with a brilliant plan. Even though most of them were not religious people, they began to pose as born-again Christians, and started to give a great deal of lip service to Christo-fascist causes in order to form an unholy alliance with the Christian right. At the same time, they aligned themselves with the NRA and also with the racist elements of the Republican party, which are still pissed about the Civil Rights movement. The fiscal conservatives, who used to dominate the Republican party, were left out in the cold. Neo-conservative philosophy, which requires unlimited federal spending on the military, endless foriegn war, and the elimination of individual privacy rights, is actually the polar opposite of traditional conservatism in the US. However, most of the traditional conservatives continue to vote Republican out of shear habit.

There you have it. As Howard Dean said, most of the people in the Republican party today are voting about "God, guns, and gays". They don't realize that most of the people they are electing are neo-con imperialists, who are just using those issues to hoodwink them into voting against their own interests on vital issues such as labor, economics, health care, war, education, privacy, ect.

Television? Try radio; everyone should hear Rush at least once. Welcome
Nomed
It's funny because last night I went to pick up my wife at work and since the cd player doesn't work I listen to the radio. You had this guy called Savage talking on and on about himself. You probably know him I didn't, he was telling people that he is never heard except on his show and nobody never writes about him. He esxplained he was very popular on radio and blablabla.
Then I though that being a conservative was not all about being a jerk but being a megalomaniac jerk. Why was he talking about himself? Who gives a damn about him? It's so childish. I think they all are the same if you take Ann Coulter what this worthless piece of shit says is dumb but she goes on and on about it. Same for O'reilly, what he said on SF got him to be on air on every single TV channel and Radio Station. It's sad but those people are not even worth talking about them because and there you go what am I doing?
I still really wish they would be send to report from Iraq and see what they can do since they know everything.

"Then I though that being a conservative was not all about being a jerk but being a megalomaniac jerk."

A very accurate characterization, and I can tell you they all pale in comparison to "El Rushbo" who "strikes fear into the hearts of liberals' with his "God given talent."
