King Fisher
Every time Hillary opens her mouth, I listen.
It is a courtesy I give her because she is a voice, not of moderation, but sense.
I asked myself, why? Her credentials are enormous and impeccable.
Who among all the others "voices" can match her? She has weathered withering verbal abuse when given the job of upgrading out nation's health system. They are still trying to catch up with her doomed efforts in that area.

She weathered fraud charges with grace even before the hounds could find no corpse. I could go on and on through her husband's disgrace and failed impeachment. Still nothing but grace. But look at the record she was certain to have accomplished in her loyalty to the president. A balance budget with huge surplus? How? By seeking the best help --- that did not come from their party. It was best for the country and a roaring success. She wandered through the most sumptuous peacetime this nation as experienced. Still with grace.

In my 75 years as a Republican in my early years, and a loyal Democrat the past 45 from a family of Republicans, I have never experience anyone like Hillary Clinton. That's why I listen to her. It's stuff, not fluff.
I would rather see her remain as a Senator, and not try a run for the white House. She can do her best where she is now.

I whole heartedly agree with you Fisher.
I do respect Hillary. She might even be the most qualified to be president.
Unfortunately too many that vote don't care about facts.
This is the TV generation become Nintendo generation.
Case in point, The Gov of California.

And that's the only reason I would hope she wouldn't run for President.
I think Bills Presidential Record is stellar, but he has that damned blue dress!
And in America, Bills blue dress is Hillary's blue dress.

Sad but true.

In 120 years of politics, he could have been Whig, Tory and Bullmoose as well. Too "settled" for me.

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif That blue dress...wonder if it's in the National Archives! blink.gif

Those good old Navy heroes live a long, long time...and in my book, King Fisher is just that.

I agree with what he and Sky said about Hillary... thumbup.gif

Gadzooks!
Actually, I know what our good King Fisher meant...I am clearly incorrigible.

I see a couple here may have some difficulty with numbers. Or, was it me making the first mistake.

It's been long time between posts, Catherine. Where have you been? Or should I say, where have I been...
King Fisher
Your are so correct on the hero bit, Catherine. But no pat on the back needed. Besides, no one can talk to a hero, as most are buried in a National Cementary somewhere.

Hero's need not be dead.

Oh no!

In fact most heros I know are quite alive.
They just don't know they are hero's.

Most all mothers and fathers are hero's.
The people that go to work every day are hero's.
Those who create the art and music are hero's.
All those who say "Thank you", and "excuse me" and "You please me" are hero's.

The list most certainly does go on,
and includes those who sacrifice their time to put their lives on the line,
to protect their people.

Watching the seemingly endless line of vehicles traveling down Prairie Chapel Road toward her campsite on Saturday in support of her vigil, Sheehan began to sob. Camp Casey has become the anti-war movement's Field of Dreams.

See the smile on her face?
She has already won, and she knows it!
Notice how respectful those cops are!

I'm smiling the very same way
after hearing about Delays "troubles".
Couldn't happen to a more deserving human!
(Though I can think of several who are equally deserving)

My father and his wife were also hoping to get arrested on Saturday. But there were 250,000 other people at the peace rally and they didn't get their chance.

BTW, there were no arrests on Saturday. I guess it's just too hard to arrest 250,000 Americans. thumbup.gif

There is no way to be sure, but I'm willing to bet that Gandi was smiling as the British colonial authorities were carting him off to prison.

Well, Rosa Parks isn't actually smiling, but I think you can get an idea of her attitude from this picture.

i don't trust hilary one bit.

note; the external doesn't always do the internal justice.

i like hillary...both a my senator and as a politician. while in the white house she had some great ideas (ie:national health care) but, unfortunately, politics are more important then people.

she has a great record as a senator and i would definately vote for her again. she's smart, articulate and very intelligent. she has shown she can stand up to the toughest challenges without flinching.

on the other hand, i'm not crazy about her pro-war stand, but i have to weigh up everything she has done or stands for and the "pros" far outweigh the "cons" with her.

i'm sure she'll eventually soften he pro-war stance when enough constituents tell her how they feel.

the right wing is so worried about hillary, that they have started already with negative ads about her and several books have been written...all negative and many untrue "facts"....in an attempt to keep people from not liking her.

one should research her work as a senator and look at her record of accomplishments before simply saying "i don't like her". her record is better than many other senators (of both parties) who have been in there much longer then her.
Gadzooks!
As far as I'm concerned, a "pro-war" stance, and all that it implies, cancels out EVERYTHING positive. "She's pro-choice and supports affirmative action and campaign reform. Small matter that she also favors bombing entire populations into a radioactive hell overseen by foreign devils who torture for fun and shoot first, ask questions not." And pro-war is ALWAYS anti-poor...where are you gonna get your soldiers, Hillary, dear?
mga
as i said, she's a politician...she'll come around when the time is right.

i have yet to see one important democrat stand next to cindy at any anti-war demonstrations either....what's that telling you? in fact, i've yet to see any democrat take a public anti-war stand yet. kerry and many many other democrats got sucked into the hype before the war and all voted in favor of it with the exception of one female from california.

did they really believe in the war at that time? probably not, but the furor in the country was to seek revenge and no politician was willing to sacrifice themselves and take an anti-war stand.

politicas as they are, watch and see how minds will be changed in the 2006 elections........

Last night I watched an excellent program on PBS.

The protest of the 60's.
You might think it's all been done,
but the more time goes by the more perspective is polished.
Plus, PBS has a way of being about as non-biased as is humanly possible.
(in spite of Conservative claims other wise)

Even so, most of what I saw I had already seen and I was reminded.

None of this is new!
The attitudes are strikingly similer!
