Driving across country recently, it occurred to me that now would be a great time to offer our Republican representatives support in order that they may have the courage to stand up to the President. The following is a letter I've sent to my State's Republican members of Congress.

*****

Dear ,

You represent me. As such, I urge you to become a torch-bearer for the Republican Party by taking a stand for compassion, common sense and fiscal responsibility rather than voting in a block with the other Republicans. This insanity has got to stop - Iraq, Halliburton, selling our country to China - and you are one of the ones who can stop it.

Please. Stand up and be counted - for America's sake.

*****

May I suggest that others do the same?

That's not a bad idea Deb.
If we can't get the Democrats to stand up,
lets talk to the Republicans!

You are exactly right, Sky. This is an adjunct to my personal campaign in which I reply to every Democrat plea for funds with the admonishment that I'll give them more money once they find some balls.
shoeless
Has anyone noticed that whenever a Republican (or occasionally a Democratic) Congressperson stands up to George W. Bush, he or she gets a friendly invitation to the White House for a little discussion, and that person always walks out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. with a new attitude in favor of whatever heinous policy or person the White House is trying to shove down our collective throats at the moment?

What the hell goes on in those meetings?
