For the last year my saturday mornings have been occupied with the thorough reading of three websites:
1. Alternet
2. From The Wilderness
3. POAC
This has been my steady and well-balanced diet of alternate news resources, along with daily perusal of CNN, Slashdot, Fark, and Japan Today.
Within the last month I find I have been coming to POAC almost every day just to keep up with the news feed. The other two sites move sufficiently slow to be able to digest them weekly, but much more happens here! I try to click through all the front page links and get the gist, and read the OP/EDs more thoroughly.
I find this place an invaluable resource, and I feel a bit silly that I only just now discovered there was a forum here. Actually it was because one of the front page links linked directly to the forum.
I hope to be able to contribute something helpful to the forum discussions. In the last two years I have become more politically aware and active, having registered to vote and actually voted for the first time in my life at the age of 40, and having gotten active in assisting the independent canditate of a local election, and being the current webmonkey for the Libertarian candidate for NJ Governor. No, I'm not a Libertarian, but I like some of their thinking.
I'm a software engineer with a steady job, I live at the New Jersey Shore, I'm married, with two kids, a dog, and a parakeet, and I compose classical electronic music and make funny photoshop pictures in my spare time.
I hope that was brief enough
