More People Turn to the Web to
Watch TV
`
"...investing in new Internet
video programming is a way to
cash in on the demands of
advertisers who want to put
their commercials on computer
screens, where new viewers
are watching.
`
"...on many Web sites, viewers
can't skip the video commer-
cials, the way they can when
using TiVo and other video re-
corders."
`
For instance:
`
"Services like MTV Overdrive
typically show 15-second or
30-second commercials - which
users cannot skip - before
viewers start watching and
then again every few
minutes.
`
"Moreover, when a commercial
plays on Overdrive (and on
many other new video services)
a static graphic ad from the
same advertiser appears on
another part of the screen.
`
"This graphic ad remains even
while the program plays. If
users click on it, it opens
the advertiser's Web site."

be annoying pop-ups."

Looking at HOW LONG from
other angles--
`
"Russian Defense Minister
Says Taliban Control Most
Of Afghanistan
`
"Sergei Ivanov told jour-
nalists...on 28 July that
'most...Afghan territory
is not controlled by any-
body but the Taliban'...."
`
"Ivanov said the situation
in Afghanistan is very
'contradictory' because
while the Taliban roam
free in most of Afghani-
stan there are 'no active
military' operations tak-
ing place.'"
`
Actually, the Afghan people
seized the imitiative long
ago and are waging all-out
war against The Superpower
and its puppets--
`
"Southern Afghan District
Chief Killed And Three
Others Killed
`
"Abdul Jabbar, the district
chief of Chahar Chino in
Oruzgan, and three of his
bodyguards were killed when
their vehicle was blown up
by a remote-control explo-
sive device on 30 July...."

Iraqi Resistance Report for
events of Saturday, 9 July

`
Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.
`
A high-ranking puppet secur-
ity officer in al-Anbar Pro-
vince, Colonel Sa‘d ad-Du-
laymi, admitted at a Satur-
day morning press conference
that 60 percent of al-Anbar
Province is not under the
control of the US occupation
forces or their stooges and
that the Resistance in the
province imposes its mili-
tary control over that part
of the province, enforcing
its laws on the population.
`
...Colonel ad-Dulaymi said
that that part of the pro-
vince includes al-Qa’im,
Hit, ar-Rutbah, Hasibah,
and a part of the city of
ar-Ramadi, the provincial
capital.
`
The rest of the province is
supposed to be under US
control, the colonel said,
acknowledging, however, that
the situation there 'is like
a game of cat and mouse' be-
tween the US occupation for-
ces and their stooges on the
one side and the Iraqi Re-
sistance on the other.
`
There are battles and at-
tacks in various places on a
nearly daily basis in that
part of the province, Colonel
ad-Dulaymi admitted.

`
You may have noticed the
Iraq-Syria border is a hot-
spot. The Superpower needs
to keep its options open for
getting out of Iraq without
losing most of its troops.
Leaving via tiny Kuwait in-
vites Iran's army to fall
upon what's left of The
Superpower's troops without
further ado.
`
So leaving --being driven
out-- via Syria/Israel is
attractive. Preparations
have been made.

`
"Four of the ships will
leave today.
`
"The deployments are in re-
sponse to requests from the
European Command and the
Central Command and are not
exercises, [said] Vice Adm.
Mark Fitzgerald, commander
of the 2nd Fleet...."
`
The Pilot quotes Fitzgerald:
`
"They [= the two commands]
are looking at trying to get
at a few of the problems
they have out there.”
