I say he did it. dry.gif (Can anyone find better pics?) Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. He never grew up. Vindictive, nasty piece of work. He holds most Americans in contempt.

The White House just called (seriously)
by John in DC - 7/28/2005 05:05:00 PM

David Almacy just called me from the White House communications office to clarify the reports that Bush flipped off reporters yesterday while visiting the Hill. David says that Bush was definitely giving the thumbs up sign with regards to the upcoming CAFTA vote (Central American Free Trade Agreement). I asked David if I could write about our conversation, and he said please do.

I have to say, I'm not real convinced by the thumbs up excuse. It's possible, of course, but the video doesn't look like his thumb, and Bush has a history of flipping off reporters (there's a video we posted last fall of him flipping off a reporter in Texas while governor). This is a still shot of that video from when Bush was governor.
user posted image
There are also unconfirmed reports of Bush flipping off protesters last year. Bush called a NYT reporter a "major league asshole," and let's not even talk about VP Cheney's mouth.

And while, yes, it would be really stupid of him to flip off reporters while on the Hill, well, it would be pretty stupid to lie to the nation about going to war, and to keep Karl Rove and Scooter Libby on staff after it's already been proven that they outed a CIA agent. I'm not going to put it past Bush to do something really stupid.

Having said that, the White House gets two points for reaching out to bloggers, especially bloggers on the other side of the aisle. That's the job of a smart public relations person, to reach out even when you don't agree, so they get points for that. Now how about reaching out on the issues, then we'll start really talking.

You can check out our earlier report on last night's episode and decide for yourselves.

Bush flips the press the finger yesterday
by John in DC - 7/28/2005 10:44:00 AM

UPDATE: I got a call from the White House, they say Bush was just giving the thumbs up - read about that call here.

So not kidding. This was on Leno last night, among other places. Guess maybe Jesus isn't his favorite philosopher. I have no problem with him flipping the bird to the press, but don't pretend you're holier-than-thou Christian man then start saying "frak you" to the media. This man is no conservative Christian.

He holds at minimum 99 percent of the population in contempt. Although he'll tell you, he's not an elitist. He's a regular guy...

I wouldn't have a beer with that slug. He's a devious little snot sociopath.

Yeah... He did it alright. The spoiled little shit has never had to answer for his actions, ever. Why should anyone expect anything different?
Legato_Bluesummers
As funny as it would be if he really did do it, I don't think even he's that stupid. There was an interesting flame war about this yesterday on fark here, the type of 'introspective' discussion that you would expect to see from both sides of the aisle, plenty of zoom ins, etc. The funniest part is seeing all the BushBots rush to his defense, as if any slight to their leader and master is a slight to them, geeze those people can't take any criticizm. bawling.gif

Regardless, he put himself in this situation when he actually DID flip the bird to the camera years ago (see above pic). Oh well, there's a lot more pressing issues facing our nation than whether it was a thumb or a bird. Like how Bolton apparently LIED UNDER OATH!! The congress doesn't tend to like being lied to that much, but will they actually do anything about it? sad.gif

It's his thumb from behind, the lighting and blurry shot make it possibly look like he's flipping the camera off but it's his thumb. Now let's worry about shit that matters please.

Tzu,

What matters is this is the leader of the free world!
This is the most powerful man(?) in the world!

What matters is that this man(?), the most powerful man in the world,
has such contempt for others!

What matters is that slowly, (this process hit light speed 5 years ago)
slowly any form of civility leaves our society.

When it's OK for the President to be an ass hole,
it must be OK for everyone else too!

What you see in Bush's childish action is a glimpse of the real person.
Would YOU reply to this man(?) as "sir?"

No, this is NOT MY pResident!

It's his thumb. No question in my mind and I looked at the clip frame by frame, Save your justified outrage for something that really matters. I don't want to see any interminable thumb-finger threads going bananas here as I have seen elsewhere.

We know he's a socipathic cocksucker. This changes nothing and obviously doesn't break off any of his support even if he did flip the bird. The Pods will support this fuck even if he were caught red handed dining on babies in the rose garden while porking Karl Rove, or vice-versa.

His support is not based in reason, it is based in warped emotionalism and brainwashing through constant TP repetition from the wurlizer. Pods are for mocking, not debating, just like the head Pod himself.

I only posted it as a story that 's been making the rounds. Nothing more.
The plausibility factor is high in an asshole like him. It clearly illustrates the man's disdain for others that it even became a story and got blogged everywhere.
It was simply a sidenote in a week that saw us being firmly fucked in the ass by Congress. Watching the proceedings on both floors this week was arduous and painful. He bullied. Cheney bullied. It sucked.
Dave, I believe you, it's his thumb. Whatever. I have yet to see a video of the deed. He'd LIKE to tell us all to fuck off. I know he would. He hasn't changed, just sealed the cone of silence around himself.

It's like you say Panda, it's not implausible.

I'll take Dave's word for it.

Absolutely zero disrespect for Dave,
in fact, I very much respect his observations.

However, I have seen the movie, and a close up picture,

and that is not his thumb!

Yes, such an act is within possibility as it is within his personality.
And yes, he did it again! No real surprises there!

The man(?) really is an immature spoiled (and now very dangerous) brat child!

Yeah, I got this almost the minute it was public. It's too likely the presidential thumbkin. I think I'm the only liberal source out there that didn't run with it. Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy ran with it. Of course, so did Leno and others. What's odd is that when Scotty was asked about it, he wouldn't give a straight answer. He just refused to dignify the question of "whether or not it was the hostile finger" with an answer.

But I scrutinized it really closely when I first came across it and it sure looks like the thumb to me.

What's really really odd is before he stuck up his thumb, he was heard saying "Hey any of you fellas wanna smell Condi's...?"

That's his thumb goddamnit! NO ONE'S WRIST IS THAT SMALL FROM THE SIDE, with the exception of Calista Flockhart. No, sky, it really doesn't fucking matter because no one gives a fucking shit. LBJ was an asshole, FDR and Truman, among others, were assholes, not in the same respect but they were still assholes none the less. The fact of the matter is, AMERICANS LIKE ASSHOLES! This is a zero-sum argument and a distraction from real issues, find another argument.

The thickness of the wrist appearing thin is a digital photo effect caused by the pixels not replicating properly when the digital image is expanded.

The position of "the thumb" is not on the end, where the thumb should be.

No thumb is that long and skinny.

Having thrust his hand up into the air, it's unlikely the thumb would point straight up!

When viewing the film, why in the hell would this man throw up his THUMB in such a defiant manner?

You are correct though. It's not really an important issue.
But does every issue we discuss, and some times disagree about,
do they all have to be life n death?

This one is just for fun.
However, if you don't like it, use the ignore feature! tongue.gif

Unlike all those other presidents you mentioned,
this one is exceptionally unpopular,
never has been or ever will be respected by respectable people!

It's looking more and more like it's just the latest Karl Rove masterstroke. He's got all of the more politically conscious minds involved in a discussion about thumbs and birds, for crissakes, and not about potential criminal wrongdoing. Just another smokescreen. Rove makes even Lee Atwater look like a hack.

Speaking of distractions, anyone heard about the whole "controversy" with the game Grand Theft Auto? It's been all over the web, I'm thinking they're trying to use it as a distraction for Rove by distracting the populace with this farcical outrage and distracting the congress by getting them to have a hearing on whether or not Rockstar Games lied to the ESRB.

Grand Theft America!

Punch in the secret code and you get scenes of Bush, after landing a jet on the Abraham Lincoln wearing a cod piece the size of Rhode Island, in his birthday suit single handedly invading and defeating all of the Middle East. (Rambo for the Neocons)

Grand Theft Auto... More ghawd damned Wedge Issue Political Wrangling... If you don't like the damn game don't let your kids play it. I wouldn't let my kid play it. Where are all of these "Get Government Off Our Backs" Conservative Boneheads now?

And speaking of distractions... Take Bohemian Grove (Please!)... Even if the rumor did pan out about human sacrifice it's served its fucking purpose. It's distracted us from the real issue. That issue is that of Veneer Democracy; peel away the thin veneer of democratic trappings and you've got the dandy little Aristocratic Elite calling the shots with no oversight or input from the constituency that are effected by it. That's the issue dammit! There is no fucking democracy* at all. All there is is sleight of hand and stagecraft ala Rove and the rest of the boys.

YES! The ROOT of the issue!
All else stems from this simple fact!

The sad thing is, it has always been this way, more or less.
That though, does not make it ok!

Is it time for our society to evolve?
Is it time for a revolution of evolution,
to grow past the selfish cave man,
the strong dominate and take what ever they please while the weak starve to death?
Can we focus enough, to bring enough along on this evolution revolution,
to make it a national past time of evolving?
Can we make trying to be better humans a national priority,
more so than owning a copy of "grand Theft Auto?"

What could we be,
if collectively we simply tried?

Or is it too much to ever expect the general public
to be shocked by it's own violence against it's self?

Who taught these kids that the violence in games like this is cool?
