The strangest thing to me is why the Senate always seems to tip-toe around asking the Roe v Wade question. What the hell? That's probably one of the most important questions that you can ask a Supreme Court nominee, so what do they do: not ask him. WTF? Congress seems to think that's some sort of out of bounds question, like asking whether or not he likes to wear womens underwear.
But what really sticks out about Robert's in particular that's come to light over the last week or so his his membership with the Federalist Society, a group of secretive, ultra-conservative attorneys. Apparently, he shows up on the membership rolls some time back. No big deal in and of itself.
But the big red flag comes when, asked about his membership with this group, he says something to the effect of "I don't remember". Now, we all know that when a politician says "I don't remember", that usually means "of course I remember, but I'm going to say I don't, which gives me plausible deniability". Kind of like Reagan and that messy little Iran-Contra thing. If he wasn't, he would've said right out "NO", just like Rove would be saying right now "no, I didn't leak the name", if he didn't. I wish that phrase worked in the real world. If my girlfriend ever asked if I banged her sister, I could just say, "geez, you know, I don't remember." Or if my boss walks up and asks "did you lose us the big account?" I could put him on ice right then and there by saying, "you know, I don't recall."
I believe the exact phrase the media is saying is that Roberts "doesnt recall" being a member. Doesn't recall? The guy's a high profile attorney, I think he would remember what trade groups he has or had a membership in. Sounds like a steaming pile to me. Read more about it
here.
So what's he got to hide? Out with it, the people have a right to know the truth. Dont they? Or am I just being old fashioned?
Let's hope they at least hold his feet to the fire about both the RvW and the Federalist society questions. We deserve at the very least that much.
