In this poll i am really more concerned about legalization but it is always fun to have old people admit they tried pot. So vote and be honest, no one is judging you(except the feds who are spying on us.)

I was once much younger than I am now.

In the past, I've managed to spill more than most ever smoke!

Haven't touched it in over a decade.
Not because I quit, but just haven't been motivated!
I also rarely drink, though am NOT a teatotaler!

The laws on Pot are completely off target and way out of proportion.
Make the stuff legal and control it like booze.
Tax the shit outta the product, like booze.
Send the billions that were being spent on interdiction
into programs to educate and rehabilitate!
Reduce prison populations and free up court time for REAL CRIME!

It's amatter of public record...I pulled an article 15 for it in the army, and got popped for possession while in college, so I don't mind admitting to it. I don't smoke anymore, and haven't the urge to. Reality straight up is freaky enough these days. Criminalization of marijuana is a revenue source for local, state and federal government, and serves to stigmatize that part of the population the government most needs to control. With the destruction of the middle class, there is less and less of a buffer between the rich and the poor. Pot laws serve to incarcerate and disenfranchise the poor and working class. Have you read about any wealthy folk getting busted lately? They are also an attempt by the feds to quash competition for the liquor and pharmaceutical and timber industries, among others. If anybody who wanted to could grow the stuff, well, you can imagine. People would be smoking it instead of drinking those cocktails that Seagrams sells in those cute little cans, or smoking it instead of taking Celebrex or Prozac or a host of dangerous and ineffective pharmaceuticals. We'd be making paper out of the damned stuff (was that the timber industry I just heard scream?) and we'd be making oil outta the stuff. In fact, the US gummint developed a great process for making fuel and lubricants out of hemp during WWII, in case the Nazis were able to deny acces to foreign oil sources.

..did I mention that making it legal would kick the CIA out of the marijuana trade? 'Course, they still have the international opium and cocaine business to fall back on.

You know, between 1992 and 1994, clinton could have got it leagalized but he didn't and i will always see that as a failer on his part.

right on target.....

I cant own a gun in my state, a felon for driving on revoked.......yet a large gun manufacturing plant is owned by two brothers that have got caught with coke in a family vault (really officer its not ours) illegal arms deals with other nations, and in the valut millions in cash that was waiting for the "laundry"....they can make guns but I can't own one or work there?

legalized criminals is all it is, the middle class and minorities have no chance for a an equal shot of life....

bad thing about pot, with me it lead to harder drugs, at this point in my life I would not care if booze was outlawed....just think, less donations to the republican party from the bottlers and brewers......wont ever happen just like nicotine wont be outlawed...plus if you legalize pot, it will compete with cigarettes and booze...sorta like the hemp paper vs. the forest industry....plus don't forget the drug companies....

but what do I know?

I not only smoke pot and support its all-out legalization, I also grow it and am currently legally allowed to do so! THANKS NORML!!

Aside from chronic arthritis, migraines, and nagging stomach problems, I just love smoking pot! When I visited the Netherlands a few years ago I saw firsthand the positive effects of having more "coffee shops" than bars in a town. In nearly every coffee shop I went to there were people doing homework, reading books, having conversations, and not bar-brawling or being loud and inappropriate! Talk about culture shock!

Eindhoven is also a nice place with some neat coffee shops. Took my parents to the "Black Horse" there once. Dad almost keeled over once he realised what was going on ...but he kept his cool and actually enjoyed the visit.

Dead right Zooks (Good to see you posting by the way!) Except for one small thing.
Canabis Hemp and Canabis Marajuana (Please excuse the atrocious spelling!) are related (cousins) but not the same. You may well be able to make paper, oil, etc out of pot - I honestly don't know, but wouldn't be surprised if you can - but you'd have to smoke one hell of a lot of hemp to get just a little high. According to one source I read, 'you'd have to smoke a field just to raise a smile'. - http://hemp.co.uk/

It's true that they have developed strains of cannabis which produce low THC, and the "hemp" advocates like to pretend that's the only kind of hemp. But most of the difference is in the growing. If you grow the plants close together, only the tops flower (bud), and you get a high proportion of fiber (stems). But if you grow them spaced 1 meter between plants, they bush out and the exterior is completely covered with flowers. Not to mention the issue of whether you allow them to pollinate, which causes them to produce seeds.

"Marijuana" was a Mexican slang word for "the flowering tops of the cannabis plant". Congress used that word in the prohibition legislation (1933) because there would have been political fallout if they had openly banned cannabis hemp.
sky of mind

Mae Coleman, and Jack Perry, her lover,[4] sell marijuana. Mae prefers to sell weed to customers her own age, whereas Jack sells the drug to young teenagers. Ralph Wiley, a former college student turned fellow dealer (and "addict," according to the film), and Blanche help Jack sell cannabis to young students. Young students Bill Harper and Jimmy Lane are invited to Mae and Jack's apartment by Blanche and Ralph. Jimmy takes Bill to the party. There, Jack runs out of reefer. Jimmy, who has a car, drives him to pick up some more. Arriving at Jack's boss's "headquarters," he gets out and Jimmy asks him for a cigarette. Jack gives him a joint. Later, when Jack comes back down and gets into the car, Jimmy drives off dangerously, along the way running over a pedestrian with his car.[5] Jack agrees to keep Jimmy's name out of the case.

Bill begins an affair with Blanche. Mary, Jimmy's sister and Bill's girlfriend, goes to Mae's apartment looking for Jimmy, and accepts a joint from Ralph, thinking it to be a normal cigarette. When she refuses Ralph's advances, he tries to rape her. Bill comes out of the bedroom after having sex with Blanche, and hallucinates that Mary strips for Ralph. He attacks Ralph, and as the two are fighting, Jack tries to break it up by hitting Bill with the butt of his gun. The gun goes off, and Mary is killed.[6] Jack puts the gun in the hand of an unconscious Bill, and wakes him up. Bill sees the gun in his hand, and is led to believe that he has killed Mary. Bill is sent to prison. The group of dealers lie low for a while in Blanche's apartment while Bill's trial takes place. Ralph, losing his sanity, wants to tell the police who is actually responsible for the death of Mary. The film attributes Ralph's insanity to marijuana use.

Ralph is arrested for Jack's murder.Seeking advice from his boss, Jack is told to shoot Ralph so he keeps his mouth shut. Meanwhile, at the apartment, Blanche offers to play some piano music for Ralph to keep his mind off things. They are both very high, and Ralph tells her to play faster. She increases her playing speed to a downright cartoon-like speed in one of the film's most famous and over-the-top sequences. Jack shows up and Ralph immediately senses that Jack wants to kill him, so he kills Jack by beating him to death. The police arrest Ralph, Mae, and Blanche. Mae talks, and the criminal gang is rounded up. Blanche explains that Bill was innocent, and he is released. Blanche is then held as a material witness for the case against Ralph, but rather than testify against him, Blanche jumps out a window and falls to her death,[7] and Ralph is put in an asylum for the criminally insane "for the rest of his natural life."

The film's story is told in bracketing sequences at a lecture given at a PTA meeting by a high school principal, Dr. Alfred Carrol. At the end of the film, he tells the parents he has been talking to that events similar to those he has described are likely to happen again, and then points to random parents in the audience and warns that "the next tragedy may be that of your daughter's... or your son's... or yours, or yours..." before pointing straight at the camera and saying emphatically "...or YOURS!" as the words "TELL YOUR CHILDREN" flash on the screen.
