Republican here, 36 years old, living in Illinois. Life is ok, not great but not bad.
If you need to know more, feel free to ask I guess.

I'd seen "POAC" before and had heard that you folks were hard-core lunatic leftists, but I never knew where the site was. So I found it today and figured I'd register. I'm a regular at Conservative Underground & Liberty News Forum, and have just launched a website dedicated to exposing and combating extremist activism. I won't mention the name or link it, because I just don't think it's cool to pimp the site that way. I will say for the record we're not just going after leftists, even though the site will have a decidedly conservative slant. I also intend to go after idiots like the godhatesfags morons, abortion clinic bombers, and neo-nazi skinheads freaks.
Oh, and I can't give a short answer for anything.

Not necessarily. He's heard them talk smack about us. Possibly noticed that many of their members are tourists in the reality based community and wanted to check us out for himself. Let's give our new guest a fair start.
But Medic, there is something you need to bare in mind. This is a political discussion forum for progressive and liberal types. Not a political debate forum. So if you have the intent to argue for the sake of arguing, beat it now. But if you want to compare viewpoints rationally, I'm all for it. But be warned, just like any other forum, unpopular viewpoints tend to be treated pretty rudely. So keep a cool head and set a good example. Might help some people understand that not all republicans are bad people. It's unfortunate that I even have to say that, but you know how it goes on political forums.

Thank GOD! I thought the FRC was going to get away with the judicial activism bullshit and their nuclear option. Good thing you plan on exposing them. I hope you expose the activism of the Christian Evangelicals first because we sure could use all that tax exempt money back in the coffers to help pay for war.
Oh, and

Eric Rudolph bombing abortion clinics, and the people who support killing abortion doctors.
godhatesfags.com and others who spread misinformation and pervert the bible to support their hateful agenda against people who differ from them.

I never argue for the sake of arguing. I present my viewpoints and my reasons for disagreeing with yours in an effort to expose myself and you to different ways of looking at issues. An opinion or belief that hasn't been challenged is a shallow opinion that likely won't stand up to scrutiny.

No big surprise, I'm used to it.

As long as I get treated fairly, I can take the rudeness. And yes, I know exactly how it goes on political forums. I've been playing around on them for almost 10 years now, since my very first forum on InsidetheWeb.
Again, thank you for the welcome! I don't know how often I'll be here, but hopefully my visits will be interesting, enlightening, and above all, FUN.

You'll have to provide some links to stories like these. We're very open to new ideas and we stay very well informed, but I, for one, have seen nothing on this being reported nationally.

| Eric Rudolph bombing abortion clinics, and the people who support killing abortion doctors. |
Rudolph is now serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole, so he's rather a moot point, even though the effects of his activities will be felt by all of those who encountered his special and ridiculous brand of hatred for the rest of their lives. The killing of abortion clinic doctors hasn't been reported lately, either. Perhaps you have links to the most recent reports?

We're very tolerant of homosexuals and their choice of lifestyle on this board, and we really get our dander up when someone suggests otherwise. I'll tell you right up front I'm not religious and the bible carries no more weight with me than any other religious guidebook, for which I have absolutely no use whatsoever.
If you can walk your talk, as our esteemed member Sky of Mind says, you'll have a good time here while perhaps learning from us. Whether or not we'll learn from you also remains to be seen.
Welcome.

Here are a couple of quick stories about their activities. I'm surprised you haven't heard any of the stories. Even here in Illinois the news about their activities in California are reported. The very first correspondence I received about my website was from ELF threatening to destroy my website, my home, and me if I launched the site.
Eco-Terrorists' Elusiveness Frustrate Law Enforcement in PennsylvaniaDomestic Terrorism InvestigationHere's a Wikipedia article on ELF:
Earth Liberation FrontELF is fairly well-known for their acts of eco-terrorism. Spiking trees in order to maim or kill loggers, burning down housing developments, firebombing car dealerships that sell SUV's, etc.

Rudolph was just an example of the type of radical we're wanting to expose. It doesn't matter if abortion doctor killings have fallen off lately, there are still plenty of people advocating violence in the name of stopping abortion. They need to have a light shined on them and their activities.

I'm not sure what your point is here. I specifically said our goal was to expose and counter people who preach hatred of homosexuals, whether with a bible or otherwise. Again, the godhatesfags.com was a reference to the type of radicals we're going after. Whether or not you have any use for the bible is irrelevant to our goals, but your atheism is duly noted.

Any time you're learning is a good time. Hopefully this will be a good learning experience for me. So far the reception has been pretty chilly, with some outright antagonism thrown in. No big deal though, I know I have to prove myself as a rational person, even to irrational people.

Okay so these are your three examples of "extremist activism."
Earth Liberation Front . . . never heard of them.
Burning down car dealerships is a non-starter as far as I'm concerned. That's not activism. That's just crime.
Eric Rudolph committed crimes. Period. He was not an activist. He was just a criminal.
As for Fred Phelps et al, my problem with them is the fact that they fail to recognize that the condition of homosexuality exists independent of individual desires. Most of the gay and lesbian people I know insist that their attraction & behavior are things inborn and essential to them. They are not invented or opted to. There are a few who call themselves queer by choice, but this is a minority. I'm also thoroughly convinced that there is a genetic component in homosexual behavior, hence an inclination to it may be proven to be inborn.

Hey Medic, as you'll see from my chosen handle, I have some fairly hard views on how countrys such as ours (Brit by the way) should use their power and influence over others, the REAL is an important part of the handle, as it show my thoughts on the stereotypical "Neo Cons"
Love to hear your views on how we should be spreading our influence, if at all.
Bare in mind, I'm British, I care little for the internal issues of America so the patriot act, benifits law etc, don't bother me too much.
What our nations do together does. Need any links on Britain's role in the "war on terror" just ask.
Welcome, you'll enjoy this site if you are as open to others opinions as you seem.
HINT: there's always a photo war going on here, don't enter unless you've got some SERIOUS achive behind you, Panda's got loads, and will beat any half measures, hands down.
