Hi everyone.

A cool person at another website passed the link on to me for this site, so this is how i came to be here.

I'm in Sydney Australia. I have a developing interest in politics and ideas, and although i dropped out of school i try to educate myself and read alot. I'm quite aware of the things going down in my country, and i thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep updated on the policital happenings outside my country.

My political involvement in the past has mainly with the leftie organisations who seem to be the only parties getting out there and actively barking up about things.

Originally, i was involved with them in 1998 to help organise rallies, protests and high school/university "walk outs" against Pauline Hanson and One Nation. (You may have heard of her, i believe she made a few international headlines). I stuck around after that to organise a few more rallies, stick up a few signs and sell leftie publications, but i drifted away because they weren't based near where i lived and i was 16 and i was trying to finish my year of school.

I was online a few days ago and i looked them up again to find out what was happening for May Day & i joined up again & volunteered at the rally here in Sydney. It was alot of fun, and the speeches of the union leaders and left-wing parties really opened my eyes.

At present, i'm still learning and considering alot. I consider myself left-wing, but probably not hard core. I'm not completely anti-capitalism. If our current government had it's way, they'd repeat history and privatise our health system again along with a few other government branches. I hate to think that it would become this industry motivated by money. But i'm not completely opposed to ppl having the freedom to owning businesses and making some $. In saying that, i still have alot to learn and my views need to develop some more when i find more facts to base them on.

Anyway, i hope to learn here and check out some stimulating discussions with others who share my interest.

Cheers

PS: I am Christian, and i get frustrated by extreme conservative Christians who claim to speak for God and the body of Christ in their agenda. I have a mind of my own, and a stubborn one at that.

PPS: Please feel free to send me any information or links you think might help me know my facts more

Hayzoos!

It's not the destination that really matters,
It's the journey!

Continue to read. Check various liberal websites and blogs.
Check the links they provide.
Keep an open mind. Maybe a liberal perspective with the mind open,
even to disagreeable ideas.

Check the White rose and read the posts.
Hopefully every answer you get will come with 10 questions.

That is the nature of the journey.

Welcome mate.

Don't ever let Regressive Dark Age Authoritarian Fundamentalists forget that Jesus at the very least was a Liberal, was most likely a Socialist and could even be considered a Communist.

Cheers!

As a fairly new member I don't have much expierience with this bunch, but have been active in opening freinds/family to new ideas on politics for a while.

This link I strongly advise:

the facts of 911/war on terrorism.

This site is the best for making a case against the official version of what happened that day. IT IS BASED ON SOLID FACT and only then does it theorise.

I'm a Brit, so in one sense I can relate to you and your part in the war/wars that followed those events, and how our countrys are at war because of support for the US.

Some on this site talk of US internal affairs more than others but mostly the people on this site I have found to be both open to opinions different to their own, and fun to read/discuss things with, all have a laugh with what happens here, don't expect to be board at this site.
