Full Version: Why Obama Will Win Ohio

Jack
An interesting piece of not well known information has been quietly discussed on some election prediction websites over the last few months that i think is the thing that will almost guarantee Obama will win the election.

As you all know, if a republican presidential candidate loses Ohio, they lose the election. Apparently after the dems seized all levels of government in that state back in 2006, they decided to make some changes to the way elections were conducted. One of these changes in a little known window of opportunity late this month which i believe will win obama ohio and therefore, the election.

What will happen later this month? I will tell you later...............Ok, so here is what obama is going to do. From September 30th to October 6th, voters in ohio are going to be able to register to vote and then immediately vote absentee. Make no mistake, those votes will count towards the final tallies and help determine who wins the state. Why is this important? Well, obama's organization in Ohio is vast. Drastically larger than McCain's, which is actually close to non-existent. Remember, John Kerry lost Ohio by only about 100,000 votes and this was when the republicans still had their voting machines in place. The race in ohio is much tighter than that this time around, probably favoring obama, but even if it exactly the same as 2004, those seven days should allow obama's vast organization to go to college campuses, large cities, and other liberal/democratic hot spots to register voters and have them vote right then and there. It is not that much of a stretch to think that they could get a net gain of 100,000+ votes for Obama in that time.

And yes, they do know about this and plan on swarming the state come September 30th. If this goes well and it probably will, i think that this will ultimately make the election unwinnable for McCain (although it probably isn't the only thing).

sky of mind
So you're saying, in Ohio you can vote immediately after registering, and with this tool they'll be able to mobilize the normally loud but physically apathetic (make a lot of noise about it but don't actually DO anything) college and youth crowd?

Cool!

Even tho they were available, the number of voters choosing to use paper ballots was abysmal last time around: me and some other guy. Whatever method is used, corporations are still counting the ballots. Thousands of absentee ballots from '04 were simply never opened. Many local boards of elections are still controlled by Republicans. New Secretary of State Jennifer Bruner's doing her best, but who knows? Despite court orders to the contrary, ballots from '04 were destroyed by more than half of Ohio counties.
