Full Version: Early Polling: Palin Does Little To Help McCain

Of course only preliminary but rasmussen has found that, at this stage in the Palin roll out, she adds little support for McCain.

According to the poll 35% of voters are more likely to support McCain due to Palin's choice as running mate and 33% of voters are less likely to support McCain. Some might say that it adds 2 points of support and that is good but a 2 point difference is statistically insignificant. So as of today, all we can say is that the choice is a wash. Might change, who knows? This could either be the high point in her support, due to the buzz generated but will taper off as time goes on or it could be that people will like her more as they get to know her.

And if you want to know a little more about who she is appealing to, it may be surprising to you that she appeals to men but not really to women.

Overall 42% of men say she was a good pick and 30% say she was a bad pick.

Overall 37% of women say she was a good pick and 34% say she was a bad pick

Overall 38% of men are more likely to vote for McCain now and 32% are less likely.

Overall 33% of women are more likely to vote for McCain and 34% are less likely.

Finally

Overall 35% of men say that Palin is ready for the job and 41% say she is not.

Overall 25% of women say that Palin is ready for the job and 48% says she is not

Early Polling Shows That Palin Does Little To Help McCain
sky of mind
Wait for the "new" to wear off and the reality of her missing qualifications sink in.
Wait for the political comics to get cranked up.
Wait for the woman to sink her own ship, and McTestosterones with her own words.

Here in an interview she asks, "What is it the VP does?"
I trust that since this interview somone has clued her in?

I agree, sky. I think palin's appeal and her positive numbers are only temporary, created by the buzz around her pick. I think McCain's numbers might improve slightly in the short term, like for a week, but then will plummet when the "buzz" effect wears off and people realize how disastrous she would be as VP.

Her most disasterous effect would be, what if McCain kicked off and she became President??????

That and she was never vetted by mccain. That is why this appears to be a desperate, shock value pick that wasn't done with any sort of care. There will be a constant stream of revelations and it will all be new to everyone. There is no way she is the most powerful republican in Alaska and isn't corrupt. That entire party in Alaska is under investigation. It is all just a matter of time before they start digging up scandals and questionable behavior. I think that, along with her hardcore conservative beliefs, will sink her and McCain in the long run. She has one thing going for her, in terms of appeal, and that is she is a woman. However, there are so many things that can and most likely will, go wrong with this choice. If she somehow comes out of the next two months scandal free and gaffe free, it will be equal to mccain winning the lottery. Even then, the republicans aren't likely to win the presidency.
