Personally, I'm damned impressed!
Not so much the specifics, though most were stellar, It was the the over all theme...
We're all Americans! Even if we don't agree, or if we're somehow different, we're all Americans!
The politics of division are unhealthy, and will destroy us. 8 years is enough!

Great great speech. Obama might not be the perfect candidate, but I have definitely had enough of Bush/Cheney/McCain. Obama is a much better choice than John McCain.
At first, I was kind of worried as he is really setting up himself for the spin machine. Then I figured, I bet he thought of that. Is Obama baiting McCain and the Republicans here? Is he placing his pieces on the board anticipating a certain reaction for which he has another move planned in response? Perhaps, perhaps not. His campaign took on the Clinton juggernaut, so at this point I put nothing past him.
I am damn glad I met this guy and sat in on a town hall meeting with him so many years ago.

The reviews i am reading from political experts (the real experts, not the poll readers the MSM throws out there) are saying that McCain might be in serious trouble after the democratic convention. They say that obama stole a lot of themes that mccain wanted to run on, ones which he can't go toe to toe with obama on now, and that in attacking mccain, they might have found a serious weakness: mccain's inability to adequately defend himself.
We will have to wait and see but from where we are right now, it appears the DNC was a complete success and mccain's last, glimmering chance of winning might have been extinguished.

See what happens after the standard and stock run of the mill GOP convention.
There is a very real possibility it could be a negative experience. If all they do is attack without much substance,
then it's a net loss for them.

I turned off CNN and turned on MSNBC. I was actually impressed with Chris Matthews. He and Olberrman won't be too welcome in Minnesota. That should be fun to watch.

I thought it was great; in my mind the only weak spot in there was talking about the platform, ironically. Not a lot of specifics in his plan, but I guess this was just an acceptance speech. I dunno, the "ending dependence on foreign oil in 10 years" seems naive and very open to GOP attacks, but then again, Jack Kennedy was mocked for saying we would put a man on the moon within 10 years, and we did.

If we can put a man on the moon in less than 10 years, we can do this with energy.
All we need to make it happen is leadership that makes it a national priority.

I watched CNN and MSNBC afterwards. I mainly watched PBS due to their lack of commentary during the speeches and such as well.

I think Obama really nailed it, passionate, articulate, fiery, his timeing was great, he gaged his lines well, he spoke with authority, I thought he was very presidential, in fact my friend watched it with me and he's a republican and that is what he said, that Obama looked, sounded and acted Presidential. He also said that he felt that McCain will not be as good as Obama at the RNC. I can only hope, McCain flubbs this!!!!

I think the GOP convention is McCains last chance.
Considering that 50,000 protesters are expected, while they're having a hard time filling the arena,
it looks doubtful.
