As you may know, I have an unhealthy fascination with the world of comic books (or graphic novels, as all the kids call them now). And every now and then I post some really weird ones. Some that even have obvious political overtones, this is one of those.

I just can't figure out for the life of me figure out which side they were trying to take here though.

Go ahead, take a wild guess.

Why do "they" have to be taking a side? Each of the characters seem to be a caricature of the attitudes of some people in the real world. In a broader context, this panel at least, parodies a "soap opera" genre of comic strips, not as commonplace as they once were. Mary Worth comes to mind, I think she's still around. Art truly is in the eye of the beholder. I suspect a homophobic chauvenist would find the male character to be more sympathetic. Feminists or gay/lesbian activists would probably consider that character as a foolish appearing stereotype. Others would see the women as stereotypical.

blink.gif Don't feel bad Boot, I'm always confused!!LOL! But as far as the comic goes I think it is a tale of three cities if I may, the Straight male secure in his masculine, "I know whats right for you babe,as I'm a cop." mentality, the "supposed lesbian", who is advising her friend that she knows whats right because she's a feminist and understands the male before her, and the "woman in the middle", who is trying to find out who she is and is not saying a word to either one of them.

One other comment look at the physical way they are shown in the comic, The male has his arms out stretched with the left hand almost in a fist, while the other holds his drink, the woman to the right has her arms folded infront of herself in a posture of defensiveness and puts out a non verbal message of don't touch me. The women in the middle has one arm touching the other arm in a posture of re-assurance of self, her eyes not looking at either one of them, but she is turned more towards the man.

I like this Boot, thanks for posting it and I wonder why you posted this particular comic, any reason?

I posted it because it's absurdity made me laugh.

And your probably right about it being a parody sooner. I don't have the context for it, I just got sent the link for it.
