I find this idea kind of strange. The MSM keeps saying that McCain's attack ads worked and he is making up some serious ground. However, look at the polls released in the last week, on the national level.
Obama +5
Obama +12
McCain +1
McCain +1
Obama +4
Obama +7
Obama +6
Two polls showed mccain ahead (i don't count that gallup poll which many experts called extremely flawed). One was Rasmussen and one was Zogby. The entire narrative of McCain closing the gap is based on two polls, which show statistically insignificant leads, and ignore the other five which show a rather large obama lead. The average for the week is Obama +4.6. That is no different from what we have been seeing all summer.
Doesn't it seem like the "mccain is closing the gap" argument is extremely exaggerated or even false?
