The selling of VA benefits as welfareIt's a disturbing trend - all around us we see the not-so-subtle positioning of the VA as a gigantic welfare program. The VA is not a welfare program! It's just that simple. The idiomatic
definition of welfare is: "Receiving regular assistance from the government or private agencies because of need." Veterans receive benefits not because they "need" anything; they receive them because they earned them by their service to our country.
THE BUSH-ISTS HAVE NO FEELING FOR VETERANS OR ANYONE ELSE BUT THEMSELVES AND THIER RICH FRIENDS. IT IS THEY WHO GAVE AWAY THE TREASURY TO THEMSELVES AND THIER RICH FRIENDS. NOW THEY WANT TO CUT PROGRAMS TO EVERYONE INCLUDING PEOPLE WHO HAVE SERVED THIS COUNTRY HONORABLY AND VALIANTLY. IT IS AN OUTRAGE ON TOP OF OTHER CONTINUING OUTRAGES!

The "G.I. Bill of Rights" is a contract made between the U.S. Government and every man and woman who serves in the U.S. military. It has been unilaterally broken and altered by the government over the years, and bears little resemblance to the G.I. Bill that I became party to upon my honorable discharge in 1975 and less to the G.I. Bill of my father's generation (WWII). I have just been diagnosed with an illness incurred during my service, and although the VA will PROBABLY treat, they are dragging their feet, presumably in the hope that I will die before I cost them too much. I have watched many brothers and a few sisters-in-arms pass this way. This isn't news, it is however sad.

This is not at all suprising. It goes along the lines of their standard propaganda initiatives.
Remember now, Social Security is welfare for sick old people.
George Orwell is having a "I told you so" field day wherever he is. Welfare is a bad word. Unless of course you're giving entitlements to Corporations; that's good business.
Support our troops? The Bushistas are so full of shit. They don't support them at all.

Outside Terri's Hospice room. That's where those fuckers are.
Too lazy to do jack shit but stick a fucking yellow ribbon on the back of their hulking Ford Explosion or GMC Extruder or Chevy Enormo.
But they've got the time to protest and flail about in front of Hospice where people are trying to die IN PEACE.
One life. One vs. over 1,500 troops dead and thousands more injured. One life vs. all the people on death row for crimes they did not commit. One life vs. all the other 30,000 in her same situation but without right wing fundy money to back the Schindler's appeals costing MILLIONS. MILLIONS for a vegetable. NOTHING for the VA. Sounds about right to me.

Sickening isn't it, I watched some of their protest and it is so pathetic, this may be the the beginning of the end of the neocon's strangle hold on this country, you see alot of Repressives trying to back away...
