sky of mind
TJ Templeton, owner of the POAC has decided to run as a Progressive Liberal
in a hugely predominant Republican district.

Why? Because the seat has been held by a Republican, UNCONTESTED,
for the last 12 years! And because his opponent is a conservative choad
that sits on the board of a utility company while working actively against global climate change legislation.

He needs your financial help right now.

I fixed the link. Thanks Sky.

However, i both reject and denounce the personal attacks on my opponent.

To clarify the record: Mr. Soderberg has only had the seat in the House for 4 years uncontested. Another Republican held the seat for the previous 8 years uncontested. For 12 years the republicans have held the seat unchallenged by a democrat. After seeing the complete lack of support and actual harm to my campaign from my own county Democratic party, I can see why. As a result, the republicans have sold the seat to the highest bidder with no fear of repercussion from the voters.

Chuck Soderberg is the vice president of legislative planing for a utility company called NIPCO. NIPCO is owned by a North Dakota based energy company called Basin Electric. Basin Electric also owns the Dakota Coal company. Chuck Soderberg's campaign manager and campaign treasurer are also executives with this company. Soderberg's top campaign contributors are NIPCO, Basin Electric, and utility companies from as far away as Florida. Florida Power and Electric is actually contributing to the Republican campaign in a House race in Northwest Iowa.

Soderberg has consistently voted against efforts to make Iowa energy independent and is trying to force us to continue buying coal energy from his employer instead of creating our own clean renewable power from local wind farms.

Obviously this hurts Iowans and, indirectly, the country as a whole.

OK, you reject the personal attacks on your opponent.
However, I don't, and from my perspective your "Conservative" opponent is a choad!

But then, I'm not running for office.
It would seem that letting the facts speak for them selves is plenty.

Crappy. I can't afford the ads I need to run. External interferences are obstructing my ability to campaign. But, of those I've spoken/met with, the support is strong and includes as many republicans as dems. I have about 150 yard signs in my district* and my opponent has zero. It just comes down to getting the word out and there's not enough time left to personally talk to the rest of the voters in my district. I'm not real happy with the level of effectiveness I've been able to put forth. It's a result of things beyond my control, but it still keeps me up at night. This is when it gets interesting. The republicans around here don't campaign. They just wait until the last 2 weeks of the election and run negative ads and use smear tactics. It should be interesting. I've been an observer for so many years of this sort of thing, now I'm waist deep in it.

* Of course, they are stolen as soon as I can get them up.

edit to add: Do I sound cranky? Sorry 'bout that. And thank you for asking.

To be expected on International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

We can still do the phone campaign.
As to the rest, all ya can do is the best you can do, and if that's not enough,
well, at least when you're alone you can like the company you keep.
