JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - The United Nations environment agency unveiled a new atlas Tuesday that shows what the agency says are the dramatic effects of climate change on Africa.

The nearly 400-page publication features over 300 satellite images taken in every African country. The before and after photographs, some of which span a 35-year period, appear to show striking environmental changes across the continent......

More on the "myth" of Climate Change

The fact is, far and away most people believe in Global Climate Change. They've seen the pictures of receeding glacers, and sinking beaches. They know the arctic ice sheet is shrinking. They know Polar Bears are in danger, etc etc etc.

It's just a hand full of people in powerful positions and or who are wealthy and want more who try to hold on to doubts.

Sadly not just a handful. Hell, I know a handful myself locally. It is sad. You should see my buddy Doug's blog. Well, we used to be much closer friends but over the years he has drifted so damn right. Talk about Bush-bot, Fox-News-bot, unthinking rightwing-bot; it is him.

I would post a link to his blog, but I don't want POAC readers to read the drivel there like this:

Well, let's look at the Dems and the Repubs strategies.

First we got the Dems calling for awinfall tax on BIG OIL companies. You know that would just raise the price of oil and would do nothing for production of oil. Then they also want to sue OPEC countries. I am sure this wold go ove real well with Saudi Arabia and Venzuela, then they would justgiveus oil for free. Well, maybe in an alternate universe. See the Democrats would fail Economics 101. If you want to lower theprice of oil, you need to raise the production so we have a bigger supply, which all ofthe Democrats plans would just raise the cost and do nothing for supply. Great

Sadly, people like that deny as well. It is a shame. God, we are ruining this planet. I told my wife the other day that Mother Earth needs a good cleansing, a good detox if you will...................

Yes, the right-wing is gung-ho to sell all sorts of oil permits which expire, which would mean the investor is forced to drill right away, flooding the market now instead of conserving.

On C-SPAN radio this morning one speaker in a committee meeting was saying that only 25% of the already-issued permits were being used. This really says something.

Waiting for supply to grow shorter and force prices even higher.
Oil is a commodity with profits worth of large gambol
