This is the distillation of Calvinist Theology.

You're rich because god loves ya.

The devil is in the details. Starve the poor, ignore the the needy, the elderly, those that aren't members at the Country Club.

if you are living right, god will make you rich. if you are poor, you obviously don't have enough 'faith' and something in your heart isn't right with god...

We need some more people like Jacob Riis to step up to the plate and make people take notice.

This is the future awaiting us under Bushonian Economic Policy.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that our nation needs to see some Real Reality TV.

No more of this Disneyland Fantasy stuff.

Bigger Car, because you deserve it!
Time for a botox moment?
Thin, young and rich! (no matter the personal cost)
McDonalds will promise a healthy hamburger!
Slow speed car chase, the glove didn't fit.

By the time our first state bankruptcy sale goes down and there's nothing left there but the populace, George will have legalized eatin' them. That sandwich is probably...safer than beef.

History does repeat itself. Dave's comparison to Ulysses S. Grant is a rather interesting one in that regard, especially since right after that is the period that you and I fear will resurface, the Gilded Age. If it repeats itself like that, however, we'll have upheaval in the US from disgruntled Americans. They'll realize how hard the right screwed them and revolt at the ballot box.

However, back then, Americans were far more politically conscious. People would talk about currency policy, and whether the US should be based upon gold or silver. One of the elections was based upon that. Right now, most people don't know how the currency system works (sadly, I'm not exactly an expert on it either) and they're more interested in desensitizing infotainment and brain-draining prime time TV than things like that. They won't think, they won't educate themselves. That will be the key factor in deciding our future, I think. If the public is well-educated and society becomes more intellectual over time, then expect the upheaval to go over quicker. If it does not and they continue to buy into blind ideologies and infotainment, then I fear that we'll simply continue to slide down the slope.

Why do you think Cheap Labor Conservatives denigrate public education?

How many times have you heard this?

"Liberal Arts? You can't get a job with that."

Critical thinking is not an option for regressives. Regressives like complacent mushrooms that have been fertilized with Corporate Infotainment. wall.gif

Mushrooms make good consumers. Regressives don't want citizens.
