European capital of culture 2008! Heady stuff for the council who have managed to get the city 62 million pounds (that's 124 million dollars) in debt preparing for it despite the billions we got from Europe for that purpose. A nice gift to us council-tax payers for years to come... And we've only just finished paying for the last of self-serving wankers! (Sorry! I can rant for England about Liverpool's successive councils! lol)

Take out their financial blundering though, and there is quiet a nice vibe going on in the city centre right now.

But I would encourage anyone to go visit that part of the UK, especially, also a bit "higher up and to the left' ( ) to the beautiful Lake District. Some time ago, I lived in Kendal, and the surroundings are extremely inspiring!

Speaking of the British Isles, I just got back from Dublin where I discovered Jaffa cakes, they are awesome.

You are also invited to visit Denver, Karen I have a small one bedroom apartment, but have friends here in the complex I can stay with and you can have my place!!! I loved to show you THE MILE HIGH City... I just heard Obama is going to make his acceptance speech at Inverness Field where our beloved Bronco's play...It seats 60,000! True that. The Lake district is stunning! As is pretty much all of the countryside in the north of England. - The whole of the UK's countyside is beautiful, in fact, but Northern England, Wales and the Highlands of Scotland are extra special.

Sorry Usha, but I've never visited the Netherlands, so i can't return the compliment - my brother speaks highly of Amsterdam though!

Well, Karen, if at any time you feel like crossing the big pond, we'll have room for you here in The Hague. As for Amsterdam, I think I'll pass, but you go right ahead. I understand as a sighseeing spot, it's quite *high* on the list!
