First let me say, that it was a good thing my husband was home last night, because he prevented me from hurling a heavy object at our television.

Okay, I myself have commented here and at other sites at how abysmal our media is in this country, but last night (for me anyway) was probably 'the straw which broke the camel's back', as far as how low they can go.

Did anyone watch that joke of a debate last night? I mean I kept waiting for them to ask, 'who is your choice to win American idol this year?'!!! I know I am not alone in my absolute outrage at how awful it was, because I have read comments all over the place (and except for the right wing idiot sites), you cannot find a positive comment about it. Look at the ABC website (who held the debate), last time I looked there were 13,000 comments and after 20 minutes of reading I read one comment which was somewhat positive. I for one am livid, and feel happier than ever to be moving to a country which has decent media, who report real matters, and hasn't been reduced to one BIG National Enquirer magazine!!

Here is a link to an article which a blogger post at the Daily Kos, it certainly put many of my feelings to words, which at the moment I am just far to angry to eloquently present.

Okay, time to do some deep breathing, so that I can refrain from going out on my front step and screaming.

You aren't kidding, it was a travesty. Every time i thought it reached a low point, they out did themselves. By the time the fat woman asked about flag pins (seriously, what the f*ck?) i had to turn it off. What a f*cking joke.

We also already have a conversation about this if you want to join.

I watched the ABC evening news tonight, and found it very interesting.
That sham news reader said lots of people wrote in to say they didn't like the debates. But then balanced it out by saying lots of people also wrote in to say they DID like them! Yes, with a straight face he said this.

This is the biggest TV news screw up since Dan Rather told the truth about Bush's military career.

Fox's hand in the so-called debate.
QUOTE
The unseen influence of Fox News wormed its way into tonight's nominally ABC-hosted debate, when Senator Barack Obama was asked to account for his tenuous connections to former Weather Underground leader William Ayers, who famously began a New York Times article with this statement: ''I don't regret setting bombs...I feel we didn't do enough.''

The question was posed by George Stephanopoulos, who neither conceived of the question himself, nor disclosed the primary source of his donated inquiry: Fox News talking head Sean Hannity. [...]

Hannity asked George what kinds of questions they'll be asking at the debate tomorrow and they discussed a few things. When Hannity asked about the first question below about Ayers and whether George had plans to ask such a question, George replied, "Well, I'm taking notes now Sean." It did actually sound like he was pausing to take notes.

ThinkProgress has the audio.

When Hannity is feeding Stephanopoulos ideas for debate questions, you know you're watching a journalistic problem.
btw I didn't see the debate, but to differentiate himself from Hannity, Stephanopoulos probably ought not to scream the question...don't know whether he did or not. Russert also lowered the standards of discourse, though his rubbish was an interview format, or is that now what debates have become? Next question from Fox, "Have you quit beating your wife, and when did you make this commitment?"Worst Debate Ever
