I live in Connecticut, and some compassionate people decided to provide a free dental clinic for those in need. First come, first served, no questions asked.
Last Saturday the clinic was open from 5am to 5pm. 350 people were waiting outside by 4:30am, some camped out overnight.
A pilgrimage of people flooded the clinic. The doors were closed by 10am. The 700 seat waiting area was filled to capacity.
(Interesting tidbit: Filmmaker Wes Craven is making his new horror movie across the street from the clinic. WHERE'S MICHAEL MOORE WHEN WE NEED HIM?)
One dentist said it was sad to see this happen in the richest state in the union. It showed the severity of the healthcare problem.
I wrote a letter to the editor of The Hartford Courant. I wanted to know how many politicians were waiting in line for dental work. My guess was ZERO. THEY ARE BEYOND NEED AND OUT-OF-TOUCH. THEY HAVE BECOME MASTERS INSTEAD OF SERVANTS.
Could you imagine a politician with a toothache saying "Oh my, where can I go for help?" It's laughable! That's why they don't care about you and me!
I was just watching something with Steven Hawking. He said that unless we can branch out into space we will destroy each other with our greed and hatred. Smart man!

What makes him think that our expanding into space will do anything to alleviate greed or hatred. I unfortunately see the future envisioned in
Alien as significantly more likely than that envisioned in
Star Trek.

I took what he said as meaning if we all SPREAD OUT, very far and very wide, we won't be as likely to get on each other's nerves!

Don't stop their G! Can't we wave farewell to the whole power elite of the world, to all the CEO's and corporate interests. To kings, queens and sultans. And to all the corporate bankers of the word too!
