Who doesn't love voting?
Libertas
I'd still lay even money on Obama.

If so, i think we are in store for some good times.

If it's not Obama America, and the world, is in serious trouble!
If it is Obama we at least have a glimmer of hope.

I am guardedly optomistic that it will be Obama. I think that those of you out west and in other more liberal areas are overly optimistic. My sister canvassed door to door for Obama here in Ohio, and I've paid attention to some Pennsylvania voters I've seen interviewed. While they might not use the words, many voters, especially blue collar ones, make it clear they won't vote for him because he's black. Some say they won't vote for him because of his name, many are sure he's a stealth Muslim. Racism will definately be a factor and wishing that we're better than that won't make it go away. I hope that her cynicism is wrong, but believe it might be the unspoken reason that Clinton argues that she is more electable.

I think your cynacysm is accurate. However other facters will outweigh the negative.

Clinton, in spite of what she said, was pro Nafta. Blue collar can't be too pleased with that.
She's also a woman, which is almost as bad as a black.
Few people, even blue collar Pennsylvaina think well of Bush, and McCain is simply a repackaged Bush.

Obama does one thing that has earned him considerable approval all over America, and has won me as well.
The man does not dodge difficult questions. Every single time his opposition has attempted to pin his ears back,
he has simply been open, up front and honest.

6 months ago I was very much in favor of Kucinich for Pres. Now, I'm beginning to think Obama might actually be a better person for the job.

I'm a bit more than guardedly optimistic, because Obama has demonstrated incredible skill in meeting and responding to challenges intended to blow him out of the race. The "charges" against Pastor Wright are the most recent examples, but the crypto-Muslim rumors also illustrate his ability to respond to attempts to discredit him.

Yes, racism could well be a factor, but I think the wide desire for a truly substantive change in the nation's direction is going to be the deciding sentiment in the 2009 election. Remember, there will be debates between Obama and McCain: I have a very hard time imagining that McCain will be any kind of match for Obama. Finally, Obama's charisma, that seems to so infuriate his ideological opponents, will reach more and more people.

that's a bit harsh, isn't it?

seems to completely overide this:
