Hello Friends and Fans of The Propheteers,
I know it has been quite some time since some of you may have heard from us. We are emailing our entire address book as we are in-need of some assistance. I'll try to make this as brief as possible.
As some of you may know my good friend and music partner Sean Halas and I (a.k.a. The Propheteers) have been working very diligently toward the completion of our upcoming debut album. This has been an amazing experience with the end of one chapter in sight. As we near the finish line we have begun to promote our album as well as working towards fulfilling mutual dreams of making a living recording, performing, and generally sharing our music with the world. You can listen to some rough mixes of three of the tracks as they develop by visiting us at:
myspace.com/thepropheteers
With that being said Sean and I have entered a competition to benefit a local non-profit as well as help get The Propheteers some well needed promotion. This is where all of you come in.
Quality Forward, a local non-profit affiliated with Keep American Beautiful, is sponsoring an 18 and over Earth Day Asheville 2008 music showcase and local designer's fashion show featuring recycled materials on April 22nd at the Orange Peel a large music club in downtown Asheville. The event will raise funds for earth-friendly projects by Quality Forward including the launch of Asheville Litter Free (ALF), a community-wide anti-litter campaign.
The musical entertainment provided will be determined by community on-line voting in 6 different genre categories. Beginning March 9th until April 8th, you'll be able to access the website at www.earthdayasheville.org where you'll be instructed on how to vote for your favorite music act. The genres represented are Jazz/Blues/R&B; Bluegrass/Oldtime; Americana/Country/Acoustic; Latin/World/Reggae; Rock/Funk/Dance; and Electronic. We are registered in the Rock/ Funk/ Dance category.
How to Vote
Here's what will happen when you go visit the site:
A list of bands in each genre will be linked there and with a click of your mouse, you'll be sent to the website/myspace page of the bands behind them. You'll be able to hear sound clips and review the gig calendars of each contestant. After listening, the user friendly voting procedure instructions will guide you to register to vote. You can only vote once, per-email so make sure you've got your picks in each category before you vote. After registering, you will receive an email guiding you on how to place your vote.
The Propheteers have registered in the Rock/Dance/Funk category and hope you'll take a moment to go there and vote for us. If the band wins, we'll be playing a 30-min set along with the other 5 winners in each of the other categories.
Some very generous local businesses have sponsored these genres by way of donating monetary compensation to each of the winning bands. Checks for $1000 will be presented to each band by the respective business that sponsored their genre, the night of the concert. This is going to be big!
You do not have to vote in every category
We are very thankful for all of you as friends, and fans of our music and all of your support throughout our years together. If you can take a few moments to cast your vote and pass this email along to anyone that you think may help by lending an ear and a vote, I feel like a politician, we would be forever grateful. You may also find some great new music you'll enjoy.
For those in the Asheville area heres how to purchase tickets
After you've voted and pleasured yourself listening to some great music in our area, purchase your $10 general admission ticket to Earth Day Asheville 2008 before they're sold out. You can do so at www.earthdayasheville.org, at the Orange Peel or on their website www.theorangepeel.net or by going to either of the Earth Fare locations, where you'll receive a free shopping/tote bag for buying your ticket there.
Again, the links to the on-line voting www.earthdayasheville.org and voting is already under way and ends April 8th!!! The performing bands will be announced by April 10th.
Thank You all,
Joseph Salvatore and Sean Halas
