Jubal,
You know you have my respect and my friendship. Abell9 once said he could happily pick your brain all day, that goes for me too.
You have displayed extraordinary honesty and courage on this board, not to mention wit, and for that you get my unending admiration.

But I have to be honest with you, and say that this 'thing' between you and Polycarp has got really ugly. I know that you are someone who will admit to being wrong when you believe that is the case, even if it takes time for that realisation to manifest you will find a way to express what you need to.
On reflection I guess that Poly's seeming unwillingness to do the same may well have triggered you're dislike of him. But coming new to a board and finding oneself unexpectedly up against an opponent of your calibre may well result in an unwillingness to back down. No?

I suppose, what I'm saying is, please give him a chance to settle in to this community without having this ugly, unnecessary, and difficult fight on his hands.
I'm certain when he came here this was the last thing he expected. He's not a troll, he's not a bad person. He deserves at least little respect.
I'm not saying don't speak out for your own believes, I'd never ask that of you, but I am saying he's not the enemy.

I sincerely hope you're not offended by me speaking out like this, but it was on my mind when I went to bed last night, and again this morning, and I know it's upsetting others here too, so I felt I had to do what I could to help the situation.

I love you Jubal, I think the world of you,

Peace.
Jubal
Honest criticism with the best of intentions offend me? Of course not.

As to Polycarp, I'll see what I can do.

I wonder how one becomes a historical reenactor. That would be an awesome thing to do in the summer.
